Progress!

Firstly a quick thank you to the new faces, I'm sorry this page is so lacking right now but your support does mean the world to me.   

An update for you lovely people:   

1. The Complete Guide to Midsommar is going very well. I've been terrified about making this video since before I published the Hereditary one because I was concerned that I didn't have enough to say. Thankfully, that's not the case at all. Yesterday I broke my 'words written in a day' record by about 6,000 words. There was a point during the Hereditary research where it just felt like I'd broken through and was sifting through the exact same research Ari Aster used when writing and everything was falling perfectly into place. I feel like I've approached that point again with Midsommar over the last few days. I don't want to say anything publicly about it and give the game away, but let's just say that there's some big things that I've uncovered that people have been getting wrong, and I'm hoping it's going to blow other peoples minds like it did mine. I'm sincerely excited for you to see it. My guess is that it will be coming around the end of January, but it's largely dependent on my work schedule.    

2. I've had to cut SO much regarding The Wicker Man that I'm just doing 'The Complete Guide to The Wicker Man' as an immediate follow up video to the Midsommar one.  

3. If you haven't seen my newest post: https://www.youtube.com/@Novum_YT/community it looks like The Witch will be the next project after that. From here on out I think I'm going to focus almost entirely on Complete Guide videos as they seem to be the thing people respond to the most and the thing I think I'm doing best at.  

4. In regards to my novel: the more I apply to literary agents (and I've applied to ten or so already) the more I am thankful that I have a platform, a small platform, but a platform nonetheless. So I've only applied to the people I really admire or that I think can help take it to where it needs to be. But firstly, I didn't write this book with commercial viability in mind. It's very, very odd in some key ways that I think will put agents off from taking a risk with it. Secondly, I am a designer, illustrator, publisher, editor really anything creative you can imagine, I probably do it in some aspect for my job. So just putting it out myself in multiple mediums isn't much of an issue. But I have a lot of experience with self-publishing for clients and for the most part, unless you're very lucky, it's really just a vanity project.  What those authors don't traditionally have is 30,000 subscribers and a couple of million views already in the bag. So if this wave of agents is all negative replies (and that's like a 99% probability for a debut author with weird ideas), I think I'm going to bet on myself, and post the audiobook for free to my Youtube channel. I've already been in touch with an audiobook narrator/voice actor I really admire and I can, just, afford it. I know it won't be the same as seeing it on sale in my local bookstore, it won't be anywhere near the same kind of money, but I have so many other novels I'm working on, so many other things that I want to get out there, that I'm more interested in just getting it out to the people that want to see it. Plus, if it does well then when I'm applying to agents next time round I'll have the springboard they want to see. If I do go this route then other than the audio recording everything is done and ready for you guys, so I think we can safely say a January release on that!
