Breakthrough: Art update! <3

It’s no secret here that I’ve been having some rather difficult health issues getting in the way of art- the past year has seen me at the hospital more than a dozen times, done every test under the sun, and feels like I’ve sampled half the pharmacy without much luck at improving. Right now, a beautiful mix of Dysautonomia, hEDS, MCAS, and a genetic heart defect has me in a wheelchair and dealing with sometimes incredible chronic pain especially in my joints.

Naturally this is a barrier to the artistic process lmao. And truly I appreciate all of you so much for continuing to support me even when I haven’t been able to offer much here.

But my sis Foxxy has come to the rescue with something new to try! She has given me her old iPad with Procreate and an Apple Pencil.

This doesn’t sound like much but unexpectedly seems to make a world of difference with my art. At least, digital art.

The screen is small, under 10 inches which means I don’t have to move my wrist or elbow much and can wear my rigid braces, it’s a pad so I can hold it at any angle even laying down, and it has such pressure sensitivity without any friction on the screen… all comes together to give me back the ability to draw mostly without pain. <3

This is just a quick sketch I tried to test it out, about an hour, hadn’t dialed it in yet. I’ve done a few color drawings, four in fact, plus a big collab with her just in the last couple days I’ve spent with her and she’s been teaching me how to use it. A mental amount of art for me in such a short time.

I will be posting those test drawings later tonight and maybe through tomorrow, and reaching out to everyone whom I still owe art to from last year to see if they’d be interested in me doing theirs this way <3

Honestly love how this is working out and can’t even describe how happy it makes me. Will still be doing traditional art and the vintage digital, I just need to temper my own expectations with how often it’ll happen lol. Knocking on wood but I’m hoping this will make difference on my consistency and maybe even finally get the webcomic moving with Lenora.
