2022-10-14 17:58:35 +0000 UTCIf it is ment as a demonstration to the students, so that Claitons hand would have been forced, for him to act, than this can retroactiviely become a good, relavant chapter. If the plan is diferent than it could be skipped. Basically all depends on next chapter.

2022-10-14 14:58:26 +0000 UTCI'm pretty sure Salvos was baiting Clayton into showing off, so people would start asking questions about why he isn't using his incredible battle prowess to help with the impending apocalypse. And in the process, the chapter gives the readers a chance to see that Clayton does, in fact, live up to the hype. Seems like a reasonable chapter to me.

2022-10-14 13:40:57 +0000 UTCThe point Salvos is trying to make, from my perspective, was to the people watching the duel. She is welding two Treasures, everyone knows about her exploits and how powerful she is without them. The crowd knows about the invading demons, and some may think that Clayton could help; but then they see his power, maybe for the first time ever. It would be folly for him to stay at Mavos now. The people that live there would lose their respect for him, or worse. I don't think a quicker, more clear-cut point could have been made than this chapter gives the students. Perfection.

2022-10-14 12:49:04 +0000 UTCKinda, but we already knew that she does not stand a chance against Helana (who is lower in level (and most likely strength) than Skyshreder) withouth her divine esence. This chapter is fun, don't misunderstand, but from writing perspective it is slightly redundant.

2022-10-14 12:22:00 +0000 UTCig it serves to show how salvos holds up to the current highest level human, although maybe next chapter will hold more weight

2022-10-14 12:00:57 +0000 UTCI like this novel, but am I the only one who think that this chapter was basically pointles? The fight didn't achieve anything (we already knew that he was the strongest mage), there was no character development (Salvos was Salvos, and Skyshered was the same no bs principal). This situation can literally be solved by offering him the manual to Ascension, as he wants to achieve a Divine esence (which Salvos should know about, but ok, this is Salvos, she probably forgot).

2022-10-14 10:58:35 +0000 UTCI think the scene already implied its limits it seems to temporarily remove or disable mana in the target area. More powerful spells may not be completely disabled or negated by it and skills only would be affected if they use mana and even then they may only be temporarily disabled if they imbue some kind of effect for a longer period of time like [haste] for example. Still kinda op against mages or mana heavy classes but can be countered and who knows what the cooldown on it is like

2022-10-14 09:22:55 +0000 UTCHuh, I wonder what the in-universe limits of dispel magic are. Sounds like that could be pretty busted if it literally negates all powerful skills.
