So trico took the credit for the kill to get a better ranking. But I think the corruption is just a method of covering the tracks of a dead worldwalker. I think Trico tricked the devil into using the dead worldwalker to empower the world or layers of the netherworld, fairy world, heaven or spirit world and mortal realm. Which the byproduct of it trying to reclaim the power it destroyed the world. Heck the nature of becoming a godlike being might even be a byproduct of the death of the worldwalker

Working your entire life up to that point to prepare for a 'War in Heaven' only for it to ghost you completely. Man, he even lied to his best friend Belphy about it too smh. Come to think of it, the kobolds were wrong and now it's revealed Belphegor was wrong. I am /half/ expecting Samuel to turn out to be wrong as well lol.
