Elaboration on the Pack

So over on my dA and Tumblr, I released my first priced art pack. If you remember, the description of my Patreon page explicitly stated that my renders would always be free publicly. I'm not going to sneakily edit it out (I did remove it since its no longer true) and pretend I never said that. Rather, I'd like to give my reasoning behind the change, and hopefully make it feel less of a betrayal.

The dA upload does an alright job of explaining the how and why. Like I said over there, everything else will still stay the same. All the projects I'm currently running will still be free, for everyone to enjoy. This pack is purely on the side, something I did separately from everything, boiled down to mostly the growth aspects.

Now while I will retract on my word about the free content, it doesn't change how I feel about doing this as a hobby. Because that's what it will stay as. It wont work for me in any other way, it wouldn't be fun for me if I have to force myself to make content. So I wont go out of my way to monetize everything in due time. Plus, sharing it with everyone is a big part of the experience.

I've mentioned in the upload that I've considered adding it to my rewards somehow. That getting the $5 or $10 tier grants you free access to the art packs, or something like that. But while that seemed pretty nice to add, I realized that it creates a dependency. A dependency for me to make more packs (pretty much a dependency for me to open commissions on the highest tier, but I'd digress). And as of now, I have NO clue whether that'll be the case or not.

All in all, I hope this has given a bit more insight. I've essentially repeated what I said in the upload, but in more detail.
