Listening to 11.975MHz, the original webcomic run (complete)

A few days ago I was asked by someone where my old webcomic, _Listening to 11.975MHz_, was located or if I archived my strips somewhere. I don't get this question very often because as far as obscure webcomics go, mine was more on the deep web side of things. I never really tried advertising or networking my comic with other webcomic creators, mostly because other webcomic creators at that time were  insufferable (and highly political) to say the least.  I intentionally kept everything about my comic low-key, but eventually Something Awful found me and to my surprise, they loved my stuff. Unfortunately that was the old, fun Something Awful that disappeared a long time ago (long before Lowtax did himself in, even.)

I absolutely hated (and still hate) webcomic commentary by the artist/authors explaining the joke for the latest comic. I never did this. I never commented, period. My characters spoke nothing that wasn't randomly generated, and this was to the purpose that a reader should be able to tell what's going on in a comic; dialog in a comic is a prop. No hand-holding here. You have to figure this one out on your own. I wouldn't even share my email address on the comic's website. That being said, everything you see happening here is stream of consciousness.  Occasionally there's a typical comic punchline. It was years before I ever told anyone the actual names of the characters.

You'll see my influences from Crumb to Breathed (whose influence pretty much carries Akagi^2) all centered around a very strange blue-haired little girl who found herself in a very strange, chaotic, yet benign fantasy world that greatly resembles 3D WorldRunner (which was programmed by Nasir Gebelli, who moreso than anyone else had a major influence on my childhood's concept of fantasy. More on this later.)

You'll also see my art style make massive swings over the run of this comic. You should be able to discern whenever I entered USMC boot camp (one of these strips was actually completely drawn during boot camp, believe it or not.)  You'll see it stabilize into something more recognizable near the final quarter of these strips. "Stabilize" may not be the right word here, because there may or may not have been some chemical influence at work here. I'll leave it at that.

For the past few years, some fellow had archived my entire webcomic's run and put it in a zip file and even did some resizing of the unnecessarily smaller-dpi comics. Whenever asked, I would point folks to this archive, but it looks like it's gone now. So, here's the actual archive from my old website (CW: Nudity)

I've often wondered if I made a mistake to leave this comic and move on to the "print" comic version where they actual speak sensibly (relatively speaking.) I really miss this style of making comics.  Maybe I should return to this comic as if nothing had ever occurred in the past ten years. Maybe I will.  It will have to wait until Akagi^2 is completed, though.

Enjoy, and thanks for your patience and your continued support.

Woo, was just thinking about your old comic and found it over here. Glad to see it uploaded somewhere. I picked up the digital comic run on Comixology when it was still around but I don't think it's available still? I couldn't find it when I went to see if there's a new issue, at least?
