Susan #90 - The Big Reveal

This marks the end of part 1, the first 20 weeks of her pregnancy! The first trimester always seems the hardest to do, I've noticed after the past few progressions. But it is important too, especially in Susan's case. Now the stage is set for the really fun stuff!

For when part 2 will resume... hard to say. There's a teaser coming up soon, but besides that, there aren't a lot of scenes ready so it'll definitely take a while.

October 30, 2017 - (5 days after #89, 19 weeks into Susan's pregnancy)

Everyone was holding onto their hearts. Susan was laying on the bed, with Nathan holding her hand. Her mother, Annika holding her husband tight. Too tight. But per usual he let it happen, especially on such a special occasion. She also decided to be the grandmother-to-be, instead of the doctor for this check-up.

On the other side of the table were Nathan’s parents. They also were unable to contain their excitement as the doctor tried her best to identify the babies from one another. Eli and Noah looked around confused, but happy to be with everyone and with ‘big sister Susan’.

Nathan held Susan's hand which was nervously shaking, her mouth tight. The doctor had paused several times as she was going to make the announcement but would change some settings on the machine, add more dielectric jelly and move to a different part of Susan’s belly. It had been nearly 15 minutes since she'd started. And with each passing moment Susan's hand shook more.

“Seven! I’ve triple-checked, it’s seven!” The doctor’s attempt to remove any uncertainty was drowned out by the loud cheer of everyone in the hospital room. It was a spacious one, but with so many people in the room it felt cramped. Susan’s parents started to jump up and down. Nathan’s grabbed the hands of the twin brothers and did the cheering for them. It truly was a joyous moment for everyone.

Nathan gladly looked on as everyone reveled in the moment. He then turned to face Susan to congratulate her. However the glister in her eyes and her curling lips told him she should do anything but that. Her hand slipped from his and curled up in a fist, visibly shaking. He reached out his free hand to calm her down, but before he made contact Susan wrapped her head with her arms, covering her ears. She yelled at the top of her lungs:

“S-shut up!! Please just. SHUT UP!”

The volume was high enough to where bystanders in the hallway could hear her. The room instantly died down, everyone looked down to a sobbing Susan. Glances were shared with one another, but nobody dared to speak up.

“Let’s...” The doctor started. “Let’s give her some room, okay? It is really crowded here.” She got up and started guiding Nathan’s family out. On the other side, Susan’s parents quickly joined them. Nathan got up and intended to do the same, but Susan lunged out to grab his arm, her belly still sticking out and covered in the jelly.

“P-please...” She had her head tilted down, biting down on her lip.

Without a second thought he sat back down. Both hands holding onto the one she used to grab him with. He looked up to see a glimpse of the last family member exiting. The doctor looked at him and smiled gently. He returned the gesture, his lips forming a ‘Thank you’ afterwards. She closed the door behind her, leaving the two;  or rather nine alone.

The shuffle of the door acted as a signal for Susan to start embracing him, as difficult as it was with her large belly fighting over lap space with her breasts. He accepted her, wrapping his arms around her back. Unintentionally feeling where her thick bra ended and her skin began.

They spent several minutes locked in each others arms. The noise outside quieted down as their family left, most likely to the cafeteria. Susan continued to sob, only near the end did it stop. Still in his embrace, she started;

“Nat... I... I really thought I could do this. When it was like... three, maybe four? I mean it was still a lot but it felt manageable. But this... I... s-seven?!”

Susan leaned back to sit up right. She sniffed and tried to wipe away her tears. Despite it all, her other hand drifted away to rub the belly that was poking through. "I don't know if I'll be able to keep up. I already cut school short. I'm working, but I don't know if I'll ever make more than I do now... And then there's keeping track and raising all of them... I sometimes forget to milk myself, I rely on you so much... Three was already so much responsibility, b-but...”

She felt her tears swelling up again. “What if I'm not enough for them? What if we can't support them? They deserve to have a good life. Last thing I want for them is unable to live their lives because of what I’ve done...”

Nathan leaned in towards her, lightly rubbing her arm. “You haven't done anything yet. Let alone something wrong. Things are going to work themselves out, we'll adapt. And if we need it our families will be there to help us.” With his free hand he grabbed a couple tissues and wiped the goo off of her belly, pulling her top back over the large orb.

Susan gave Nathan a stare. “I don't want to have to rely on our families though. That's all I've ever done and I was hoping, with you I wouldn't need to do that anymore.”

“You’ll rely on me though right?”

“Of course... You’re my husband and-... you know... the one I love... more than anything...” Susan blushed at her words, but her grip on him was firm.

“Well... then trust in me that everything will work out. I know we can do this.” He took a moment to stroke her hair as it dangled down her forehead.

“Look... Think about this right, if we give up before even trying, before even giving it a shot... then we might as well have already failed.” Nathan lightly held either side of her head, turning it towards him. “Everything I am, everything I have, everything I will be, is yours. Ours. Theirs. Whether it's 3, 4 or 7... it doesn't matter. Because we're stronger together than anything we will have to overcome.” Nathan kissed her on the forehead, then lightly on the mouth.

Susan bit on her lip, trying to contain the wave of emotions overflowing her. This time it wasn’t just being afraid. The warm feeling of Nathan’s presence and seemingly undying optimism burned like an ember inside her.

“Mhm...”

----------

The two sat down in a vacant seat, Nathan offered to help but Susan declined. She slowly lowered herself on the seat before leaning back. Then they just sat there, taking it all in, the ambiance of a busy fast-food chain. Tables having their conversation, laughing, all the while kids were running around to keep themselves entertained.

They were going to be parents of seven. All at once.

As much as they fantasized about having a massive belly, neither of them were prepared to face the horizon of that actuality becoming true. Nathan certainly wasn’t, yet he had to be strong for her. Not only because she was doing all of the work creating life, but to be the guiding pillar for her to lean on.

“It all makes so much sense now...” Susan blurted out. He snapped out of his thoughts, taking a moment or two to parse what she had just said.

“What does?”

“Why I’m so hungry all of the time- and so huge... I’m basically eating for eight.”

He chuckled. “Yes, you are. Next time I hit the store, I’ll make sure we’ll have enough in stock.”

Susan narrowed her eyes. “Great. With my cravings though, I’ll just eat it all up... You’ll have to ration it somehow.”

Nathan snapped his fingers. “You know that’s a great idea- I’ll go do some research, figure out what your calorie intake should be, and go from there.” Nathan was happy that Susan seemed to be distracting herself from the stress she had earlier.

Susan shifted in her seat, trying her best to lean forwards. It took some finesse and repositioning to lower her breasts enough to where she could plant her elbows on the wooden table. “Sounds like a plan. And so... what should we do in the mean time?”

“Hrm. At this point we should probably come up with names, don’t you think? Now that we know how many we’re actually having.”

She laughed and rolled her eyes. “Come up with names- you probably have a few in mind already!”

“You got me.” He put his hands up in surrender. “I simply vote for... Lindsey and Amanda.”

“Just two?”

“Well for starters, of course. It is likely that there is at least one set of identical twins in there... so...” He shrugged his shoulders.

Before Susan could reply, a waitress dropped by with their order. She paused briefly upon seeing Susan’s body, and promptly gave her the tray with the bigger order. After giving Nathan his, she told them to enjoy the food and left. Nathan stared with his eyes wide open.

“W-what?” Susan stuttered, bringing her tray closer to herself.

Whenever they went to this fast food chain, they took the combo deal. But Susan’s tray had two additional burgers sitting happily in their paper wrap. And the drink was clearly a size-up from the regular.

Nathan decided it was for the best to keep his comment to himself and dug into his food. A happy wife is a happy life.

However, it didn’t take long for Susan to pause chewing. “I’ve always liked Zoey as a name...”

“Ooh, right! That reminds me- Samantha is a name I really like too.”

“Yeah!” Susan visibly peaked up. “Or Sam for short if it’s a boy.”

“That would work! We need to write this down somewhere...”

And so the two continued to enjoy their meal while discussing the names of the children they would soon have. The prospect of having seven children still frightened them, even Nathan. But given one step at a time, they could handle anything life threw at them.
