Money Talks - Sports Handicapping Reality Show
Added 2020-02-21 22:55:06 +0000 UTCWhat an entertaining show. Episode after episode I watch these guys convince people to lay down thousands of dollars on a sports bet, and they sit there with their client, watching the bet lose, and... well... it's pretty wild. They don't lose all the time, sort of, but man, for some of you newbies, this is a good reality check to watch the amount of losing that actually does take place. I am on episode 7 but episode 1 kicks it off just nicely on how real it can get trying to turn a buck in sports betting. The guy sells a high roller on betting 11K on a game, they sit at the bar and watch it lose. He preaches money management and how you should always bet the same no matter what but tells his client to bet 22k in the next game, and it loses. So this high roller comes into town for the weekend with 50K to bet with this local famous handicapper and he's out 33K in two games, more than half his bank roll. So the capper convinces his client to transfer another 30k and bet a total of 60K on the 3rd play and lucky for him it wins. After risking nearly 100k worth of money on 3 games the client makes a profit of 27K after its all said and done. Except, in actuality, he walks away with roughly 14-16K in profit because the Capper gets 50% commission on all winnings. So 100k total risked on 3 plays for a net of around 15K profit give or take. This is equivalent to putting 100$ on a -650 favorite money-line to win 15$. Granted, making 15K profit in a weekend is definitely a solid weekend for any human being walking earth, but having to risk 100K to do it kinda makes you think a bit.
Any-who, he does win money for his clients from what it shows sometimes but man o man it isn't pretty by any means. It's down right ugly. And to convince people to lay down 1-10K a bet and walk them to the sports book to place that bet and then sit with them during the game watching it lose..... that is a whole nothing level of stress I wouldn't want to endure.
