Storyboards 44

The rest of the chapter. I was so so exhausted at this point. The blank page is the one where Antaras tears at the tree but I had no idea how to execute or pace it well, it's still my least favorite page of the whole chapter.

Interesting the expression change of Usma. In the storyboard, she looks shocked and scared, but in the original pages, she looks sad but tired. Like in the storyboard she didn't expect that fight but in the page, she's just tired to living this situation. Poor babe

I cut the frames with PS' line tool! The ones shown here are just quick guides for me. Thanks! Hope you get to make your own comic one day, the hardest part is definitely the start!

Gotcha! How do you figure out the "frames" or how to frame panels. I really like how much your comic flows (also you are very good at writing compelling characters!) I am so fascinated by comics and have always wanted to try making my own but it all seems so overwhelming. Apologies for throwing so many questions st you. 😬

The most helpful way for me is to figure out which line I want the page to end with. I try to make the last panel a hook that hopefully brings the reader back. On top of that you just test how much text the page can take without getting cramped, figure out if there's moments that require bigger panels for impact, make sure there's enough panels so each page keeps carrying the plot or relationships further.

How do you figure the layouts of your comics? Making layouts for story telling has always mystified me.
