But how would Shadow have known where they were or even who they were? The only one that she met was Puck and she assumed he was dead. Conall also couldn't have told her Puck was alive because nobody told him they were leaving Serahaven with what he assumed was Puck's body. I do suspect a trap, or at least the plan to go to shit in a hurry though. Also, assuming Conall is telling the truth that he has men with him, nobody else knows who Grant really is so I see he at least getting wounded in any scenario (though your scenario is something I agree would be worse).

Also, everyone's going all: "OHNOES Grant's gonna die!", but I can think of a worse fate for him... What if he survives... infected with the Seer's Fever? What if it destroys just enough of his mind that he can never go home again without being a danger to his siblings... or be around Shivah?
