I loved this little short story. I also feel for Among. I'm a former drug addict and I can relate to just wanting to escape from the real world through drugs. Some are able to get out of their addiction but most fall into and can't climb out. I was able to but Amon seems to have given up and wants to die. I hope the admiral saves him but well just have to wait and see what happens. As usual your story is full of characters with realistic struggles, pains, addictions, and other life symptoms that I truly believe most people can relate to. Can't wait to read more

If it's slowly killing him, chances are that he knows it, and he's willing to let that happen, but who will be there for Dhaval? If he does live long enough to fulfill that slave contract for the Drakes, things will be even worse for him. How sad that the opium is the only for him to find peace.

I really feel for this guy.. what a shit show he's suffered through. I really do hope the Admiral rescues him and well gives him the retirement he so bloody well deserves.... Common AMON!! 2019-03-02 06:46:09 +0000 UTCAs someone who also suffers with never ending back and leg pain caused by a spinal injury that multiple surgeries didn't correct and now takes large amounts of morphine every day to help bring some relief, I know all to well Amon's plight and feel his pain and suffering. I would love the chance to talk with him and perhaps lay next to him and offer him a little comfort and affection in knowing he isn't alone with his suffering.

2019-03-01 11:37:50 +0000 UTCWell, this is supposed to be set (in the comic, anyway) after he's nodded off, so if there's still smoke it'd just be lingering. That being said, I'm working on an animation for the image that will include drifting smoke, if I can make it work.

2019-03-01 10:27:38 +0000 UTCWhoa, that's really beautiful, and tragic...those subtle details in his expression, you can tell he's high but there seems an air of discomfort in his experience, also just holy shit his fluffy body looks so nice haha, really makes you want to run your hands over him and feel dat silkyness lol. Only element of it that feels somewhat lacking is the lack of whisps of smoke or something to show he was smoking, I'm not an expert on Opium though so not sure if its just been awhile and its all blown away or something but I feel like seeing some element of smokiness coming from the hookah might add to the image.
