Pet Emergency (he's okay!)

As some of you may have heard, we ALMOST lost our 8 month old puppy Atlas to a GI Obstruction two nights ago.  He got out of surgery yesterday and came home with us, and is triaging at home.  I have not had time to edit and clean up the writing and polled images from this month, since this hit at EXACTLY the end of the month, when I'm generally pushing to get everything done on time (and let's be honest, I'm usually late anyway)

I'd appreciate a little extra patience from you all while I finish these final polishing stages on Illicit Alliance, and the three polled images.  The good news is, we'll be all caught up when they post in a few days!  And I think some of them came out especially good : )

I've also got a Red Lantern page that I'll be finishing on stream Sunday, and likely posting right after.

I don't actually expect anyone here will rush or push me, you've all been wonderful every time in the past I've been late on something <3  But I feel it's my duty to you all to keep you updated on life events that are slowing me down, for whatever reason. This was very sudden and obviously very traumatizing, but he's doing really well, for all of you who are worried!  He's literally a tough puppy!

--------------------TRIGGER WARNING, DISCUSSION OF PET SURGERY AND VOMITING BELOW THE CUT --------------------------

On a personal note, I just wanted to say, to all pet owners (especially people with pets who often swallow things) if you think your pet might have an obstruction, or if they've been vomiting more than a few times in an hour, TAKE THEM IN TO THE VET. We caught this very very, VERY early, brought him in basically within a few hours of him not being able to keep anything down, and that delay was only because it was so hard to find a vet who could see him so quickly and who would take his vomiting seriously. We had to bring him to a different surgical center after that, and had to cover the costs for an emergency surgery after-hours. We had the option to keep him on fluids and wait until the next day, to save money. . . and if we'd done that, he would have ruptured and potentially gone septic, a fact which we only found out after the surgery was performed. He BARELY avoided perforating.

The point is, if you can, don't wait. I am crucially aware, having grown up very poor and spending a brief period of my life un-housed, that I'm speaking from a privileged position here, at this point in our lives (not that we could afford the surgery, and we have a big scary debt now because of this) But I know it isn't always possible to save a pet.  But if you CAN, if you have the means or, like us, can put it on credit, DON'T WAIT. The longer you wait on an obstruction, the worse it gets. We caught it literally right at the start, the surgeon said some people wait weeks to see if it will pass. . . and despite that, it could have killed him day one. I don't mean to be morbid, I just wanted to share this because I never knew it could escalate that fast, and I want you to learn from my experience.

Love you all, thank you <3
