Like is the issue that people see him as a skater's skater that's why you don't stan him? Not that I'm a deedz stan, but i do generally enjoy his vids and def respect that one clip with the kickflip front 50 pop out into the cobble bank (1:44 of the part i think?) for the difficulty it took to ride out of that cobble bank, I could just be uncultured though lol. But I guess I could see how that clip be seen as kinda unadventurous given the trends. Kickflip front 50 is easy for him and maybe riding out on difficult ground after doing it perhaps doesn't cancel out the rest of the boringness of the trick especially since those off-roading clips are trendy? But idk. I guess I see what you mean by him not taking creative risks. Sometimes his insta clips feel more interesting and creative than the clips in his part lol.

2022-02-09 18:53:59 +0000 UTCYes, drinking is endemic to European culture, but in my experience the average European doesn't glorify being fucked up in the same way that some Americans do, which is a result of repression associated with a legacy of puritan ethics or a desire to be counterculture. I do think they are stuck on the idea that to be a real skater you have to be fucked up all the time and not care about anything, including yourself, a la baker, but I agree that this is an outdated idea for sure.

2022-02-09 05:01:01 +0000 UTCOne thing I will say about European skaters “being stuck on drinking” is that the majority of Europe has a far different relationship and culture centred around drinking than Americans. It’s pretty normal to have a beer on a nice evening skate session or go for drinks afterwards. Because of factors like having to wait to turn 21 before getting to drink and America’s dangerous frat/keg party identity I think that sort of responsible side of drinking hasn't really developed or isn’t considered by a lot of American skaters. No one in Europe really ever goes to Baker levels of irresponsible drinking. That shit is pretty corny to most skaters with a bit of sense now I think. Especially after so many monumental deaths in the skateboard industry from reckless drinking.
