we understand you are busy and that you like to post quality content, but some of us don’t have the time to watch the stream live because we work or just don’t have the time and often choose to watch the vods instead (even if they’re good or not, i just play them while i’m working so it makes the hours go by quick)

Here's an important example from your stream why a little more knowledge could do you good: at 15:20 describing the Twitter people you use "liberal" and "left" as synomnyms. To anybody who really identifies as left, like me, that is an insult because nothing could be further from the truth. What you're looking for in your explanation is what Mark Fischer described over a decade ago in his essay "Escape from the Vampire Castle" (Google and read it, it's public) and its the difference between the true left approach (class consciousness) and the identity politics approach that is now being commodified into neoliberal capitalism by selling gay pride, black excellence, etc etc. The essay is really short, give it a try please.

Having read through all the comments here, I wanna offer up the opinion that maybe you shouldn't take it to heart so much. I'm normally firmly in the SJW camp but in this instance it's a damn joke and I think you've reacted commendably to the feedback on here, even the unjustified and at times downright unfair stuff. And twitter is just out of its mind. Tone policing and virtue signaling at its very finest, people trying to hang whatever big words and accusations they can on you to pass themselves of as white knights. I'm honestly a little surprised how you can take it so seriously, it's that off base. Maybe some deeper education on power dynamics like sexism, racism etc would actually help you, because it'll enable you to tell when criticism is justified and when it's horseshit. A glorious entry level book for all the fellow guys on here is "The Will To Change" by bell hooks. If you're more into podcasts, Scene On Radio's first two seasons "Men" and"Seeing White" are amazing entry points.

Personally I think you made pretty strong cases for everything you said. Putting away any accusations of racism/sexism, I'm sure you wouldn't have any issue with Beatrice if she at least had a part out before going on interviews talking herself up, and you would have the same issues with Beatrice even if she was a white guy. One implication of your argument seems to be that they're out there, and flipping it might help move things forward a little. I don't think digging his heels in on this Beatrice shit is a good idea if he's not going to put in effort and actually educate himself on the histories involved. He acknowledges he takes down his videos because he's realized he's not educated enough to speak on certain topics like Violet. An analysis of Violet in the context of racial capitalism would be super interesting, and in my view that would encapsulate that "corporatization of skateboarding" Jack McKay mentions in the comment below. But, Joa would have to put in work that I don't think he wants to put in given how adamant he is in his views on women in general. Joa, please go back to school and take some women's studies classes. It would be a net positive for the world.
