He strutted through life with a cocky grin, confident that his silver tongue could get him out of any trouble, especially with women.
But Jack had made one mistake.
Her name was Lily.
She wasn’t like the others—sweet, naive, easy to manipulate. No, Lily was clever. She had patience, a dark glint in her eye that Jack had dismissed as a playful streak. They had fun, of course. Drinks, teasing, a few wild nights where Jack whispered empty promises against her skin. But he never planned to stay.
And when she caught him flirting with someone else? Well, he thought she’d just get over it.
She didn’t.
