Attack On Titan Ep 3x6 Full Reaction!

no regrets IS canon...

Xaniss

Mikasa is only related to Levi/Kenny through her father. Mikasa's mom is of Asian (Oriental) race and the only person who is of that race other than Mikasa.

Emily Dawson

I think It's not properly revealed in the @Aaron show ackermans are human titans

Gu

Buddy. This is a huge spoiler actually considering how little we know about the world at this point. Maybe delete this and repost when we get like halfway through season 4.

Aaron Wittwer

As far as the “all Asian people are immune” thing, there is a reason why asians here are immune and it’s not the same reason as the ackermans. But it would be a spoiler if I expanded so, more to come on that later.

CM DLR

This is not a spoiler because the anime never discusses this for some reason, but the manga covers it. The Ackerman clan is a bloodline that was experimented on by one of the early kings using titan spinal fluid. They were experimented on so much that their bloodline gained an immunity to various things, memory manipulation by the founding titan was one of them. They also gain immense strength when their survival instincts are triggered among also being unable to turn into titans. And so the king would use them as weapons for protection for centuries until something happened and it was realized their memories were unable to be wiped. This is why they were slaughtered, and escapees hunted/persecuted. So they aren’t a “magical” bloodline of people who have magical powers for no reason.

CM DLR

Sometimes I read comments and go "maybe they'll loose me this vid" but honestly I love seeing your guys reactions and the different viewpoints even between you two. No one person is going to connect the dots the same as others, I'm so excited to see where your brains goes as it continues.

JojiStar

I'm aware ,I edited to add that ,another interpretations is just it's being forced steam.

Gu

The fire wasnt even cannon. It was just for effect.

daragh faro

Eren didn't find a new power to win in s1 he just enraged and forced his healing and they used non cannon enhanced fire effect , he came to terms with the reality this world ain't like a shonen world , he got eaten in ep 5 , showing the chest determination isn't enough , he lost even with his powers in ep 21( which is a subversion of the shonen trope because usually shonen MCs win once they have their power after failing at some point in the series in ep 5 and have more plot armor )but he realized it might have been annie and hesitated + the horror that even if everyone is in danger there's still people, who are trying to destroy the walls, betrayed by one of his cadet comrades who he grew with , he came to terms with the world he is in is cruel ep 24 his extra rage in episode 25 it's just a aculmination of that. He is finally fighting to his fullest in his Titan form this time without the hesitation he had. Also there's more but part of the reason why we are introduced to him as our protagonist is he represents the shounen MC trope of a idealistic boy mc who wants to fight and win with friendship and hope(that if you just believe in your comrades everything will be okay, this is presented in animes like Naruto ,one piece , zatch bell ) etc, however aot added more depth to itself by making other characters relevant and not making the world revolve around thr mcs desires

Gu

Very nicely said "Eren is a philosopher's stone, he is not a Harry Potter". I'm stealing that =)

Ron C

I slightly see your case , however doesn't undermine s1 That was still the mindset then. But at the same time as the show progresses it just makes more sense to have a explanation for why these humans are so powerful while others fall victim in strength , .tbf we also saw a lot of examples of other strong human scouts so the respect for is very much there for me, ackermans are humans that were experimented on so it's not really like it's not humanity just enhancing itself to fight monsters Also this ep is the Grisha reveal that is a 10 out of 10 moment for me

Gu

To me, in the early seasons, the maneuver gear was probably the coolest part of the show. And the idea that human ingenuity plus hard work plus willingness to take extreme risks had at least to some extent allowed us to combat the Titans. This reveal that "well actually, the successful human fighters also have superpowers" was very disappointing.

Khalayx

Lmao! You’re commentary on this episode, is exactly why AOT is one of the best shows out there. I can’t wait til y’all make it further into season 3 and 4

Manny

"Bertholdt is wet toast." Grandslam ⚾️

Quark's Bar

Oh whoops haha sorry, but honestly I still stand by my point lol cause still everything after Trost starting with S1 Annie to season 3 is still around 3 weeks

Kay

That torture method is used by the CIA in Guantánamo Bay so it’s not unrealistic at all

StormFather45

Its a logical reason why there's two really strong almost Mary Sue fighters. And more later

Gu

In episode 12 they mention that it's been 4 months since the battle of Trost

Minerva Ravenclaw

Is it a month? I thought it was a couple months. But yeah, I was going to type that up too.

KratosRager

I think what doesn't help is that in AOT everything up to the end of season 3 happens is in the span of a month? Like after Eren and the crew are done with boot camp. Season 1, plugging up Trost, Annie/Eren fight, is in the span of a week. The entirety of Season 2 literally happens right after Annie is crystallized is over the span of a few days. Season 3, they make a mention that it's only been around 10 days since Mikasa hurt her ribs from being squeezed by a Titan in S2EP11/12, so that means roughly 3-4 weeks of time has passed from Season 1 to Season 3. So yeah, only 1 month has passed since Eren has learned these Titan powers and the entire world has shifted. Like yeah, that's not a total excuse to writing these characters differently, but it puts into perspective, how fast could they even develop these characters if only 1 month has passed in the entire timeline of the first 3 seasons?

Kay

Kenny was the one to say Levi's last name.

Bronwyn Turnquist

It's kind of a feature of these seasons how useless Eren is. As they've said, the only thing he really has is drive. On first watch, up until this point, he was always one of my least favorite characters. But in retrospect it's funny how bad he is at everything. But yeah, I think hitching your enjoyment of the show onto an investment in Eren's character growth as a the protagonist is probably only going to lead to frustration. For now anyway. This part of the show is largely about trying tosolve this mystery and discover what the hell is going on with this world. Eren is largely a bystander to that.

Wangus

I agree that Eren's character now is a bit dull, and I like how you described it as a vessel. But keep in mind that he's a only 15 years old and still learning how to control his titan ability so that it looks a bit realistic rather than magically starting to use it pro level. Trust me, Eren is one of the best written characters not only in AOT, but in anime world. I'm glad you are enjoying the show, I'm so hooked up that I subscribed to Patreon 😅 can't wait for your next reaction! Cheers.

Minerva Ravenclaw

Zachary being a freak is meant to be shocking and surprising. Though when it comes to somewhat fascist military leaders, that sort of thing isn't terribly unusual. I just thought it was meant to be a reflection that the people who've now taken power aren't necessarily "good" or moral. It is a bit gross, and weird and seemingly out of place, though, like most things in AOT, there is intention behind it.

Wangus

Trust me everything will be connected, literally.

Minerva Ravenclaw

Wow I had completely forgotten about 80% of this episode. And having now rewatched it, I think this is probably my least favorite episode in any season. The human centipede thing is horrible, and the noble/Ackermann/Oriental bloodline thing has always felt completely unnecessary to me as well. Particularly as I think it sort of undermines Levi and Mikasa's characters.

Khalayx

Oriental clan like Mikasa's mom and Ackermans like her dad, Levi and Kenny. These two clans are immune to the memory wiping.

Minerva Ravenclaw

it is well known that Isayama's sense of humor is strange lol

Thepaicoman

I agree about Eren being more of a passive character than a main character up until half of s3 but I believe the show and the writer himself acknowledge that. Can’t wait to know what your take on Eren’s character will be once you’re caught up with s4 though

Moons

Yeah Zachary’s a sicko 🤢

Moons

The chair scene is just a stupid joke from writer Hajime Isayama. He even stated after finishing AoT, that he maybe wants to make a black-humored manga. :D Edit1: In the German translation, they talked about two families. One Asia, on Ackermann. And No Regrets is canon.
