Sanderson likes Androl because he basically created the character. Androl was just a named Asha'man in KoD, I think. Sanderson was given permission to do totally his own thing with one character.

2023-09-10 20:54:29 +0000 UTCAndrol's Talent is traveling, that lets him open Gateways without all the rigmarole that all the other channellers have to go through. He was literally the only one who could've pulled off that move. What a scene. Also I think the big difference between Androl & Pevara's situation and the other examples of forced bonding is that Pevara offers to release Androl when what she's done hits her and only doesn't when it's clear Androl doesn't know how to release her in turn. Granted still not great but I do think it mitigates their situation somewhat compared to the other examples we see in book
