this is like saying the strawhats individual things later on which i wont comment much on are filler because they are originally cover stories

2023-11-17 20:40:31 +0000 UTCThey're based on stories that Oda wanted to include but got cut because he wanted chapter 100 to be the strawhats entering the grandline. So they got left out, but a novelization of lougetown does include them, which is where the anime gets them.

They may be based on the "Cover Stories", basically stories told through single panels at the start of manga chapters. So a lot of the plot is extrapolated or filled in by the animation studio. But they are basing these episodes off of single panels like "Sanji in a cooking competition" and that was it.
