The implication at the end is, Crocus knows who Roger is, seemingly on a familiar level. He also in this episode said he took a break from his lighthouse duties to be a ships doctor at one point in his life. You can probably put 2 and 2 together.

All the water flows upwards and only flows down into the Grand Line. Laboon is too big to go through, and even if he was small enough, he'd be fighting the currents the whole way. Plus, if he did leave when he was smaller, and somehow made it back to the west blue, how would he know where to find his pod? One baby whale swimming around in the west blue?
