Everything Israel says is just propaganda/lies/projection. Israel is the one that uses Palestinians as human shields, not the other way around (it's well known).

Nope, Hamas is like the OPA, with many other resistance groups fighting alongside them with a little outside help. Whereas Hezbollah is more like the Free Navy, with lots of outside help. Big difference.

This episode was just a tour de force from Dominique Tipper. Just excellent physical acting. I agree that the table scene was a bit off with the variation of views, though there was one man opposed to attacking pallas, and one who seemed open. Still, it was a fairly split views along gender lines.
Fully agree re: reaction channels and how they typically go. A lot go to those to get a positive experience along with an experience similar to community building of sorts to watch people connect with something you have connection to.
But I really appreciate that you all are honest. I don't always agree with all of your views, but it's refreshing the level of thought you bring into it, and that you do commit to engaging, and that's part of why I subscribe.

And I'm telling that happens in a later episode they haven't seen yet, which is why your comment is a spoiler.

I think you may have shut down the episode before the credits rolled, so I'm not sure you caught the Naomi 's message as it was playing over the credits: "Tell James Holden I am...in control"

In a way I think some people’s denial of the similarities to the all too real current events is an example of some of the power that works of fiction like Expanse can have. The real situation has so much emotional, historical, and even familial/“tribal” baggage of who are the “good guys” and “bad guys” including how broadly those terms apply to the “other” side. It puts up mental walls that make it very uncomfortable to even question your assumptions. Even for someone who doesn’t see how similar the fictional situation is, it still gives space with much less baggage of emotion, family/tribal ties etc to consider very similar questions in ways that may open up a bit more of a door to ask them about real situations too.

Just to slightly extend- the feeling of suffocating when you hold your breath is driven by CO2 levels. So she kept pushing the edge of feeling like she was suffocating to death, just that much more terrible feeling layered on top of all the other pain she’s dealing with.

Well "woke" has no meaning anymore besides "thing/person I don't like", so I get that.
But anyone saying The Expanse of all shows isn't political needs to be on a certain class of meds to reconnect with reality. As you said, the show is one of the most political ever.
And yes it was scammed by not winning awards, especially Nonami's performance this season. Just amazing work by her, and everyone else but she stands out about already amazing performances. That's how good she is this season.

I bet Zyrus also complains about politics in Star Trek and how it's gone woke.
Some will just not see what is obviously in front of them no matter what.

I could never understand how some people viewed the expanse as not "woke" or political. Has to be one of the most politically charged commentary I've ever seen in any genre show, definitely the one that mirrored modern day society the most.
Just amazingly well written. I honestly don't know how it didn't clear up at the awards every year, criminally ignored.

This episode does a great job of showing just how intelligent Naomi is. The scene where she is making marks on the wall is because she calculated how much oxygen is in the main compartment and how much she loses just by opening the door. She is keeping track of how much air she has left.

I see a few people have already addressed the comment about the gender makeup of the UN panel deciding on whether to strike Pallas Station.
While I certainly think there is an undercurrent of that there, Ty confirmed that was not their intent. The scene is portraying Military vs Non-Military. It just so happens that in this scene/ panel two of the Military people are men and two of the Non-Military people are women (plus Avasarala). But as others have pointed out, there was a man who was against the strike on the panel and a military woman there who was for it.
By and large, the show tries avoid traditional gender roles like that. Remember even Avasarala had been in favor of military strikes in the past (which is what Delgado brings up here).

To address Clara's comment at the end, there actually was one guy on the panel at the table against striking the Belters. But yes, all the women were against a strike and those in support of one were all men.

It absolutely doesn't. Good sci-fi almost always pulls themes from whatever is happening in the real world at the time. Battlestar Galactica post 9/11 is a perfect example.

I think my tone wasn't carrying through, I was 100% being sarcastic. Israel is using Hamas's use of human shields to justify the obscene level of civilian casualties in Gaza, and what Admiral Delgado said is almost identical to what several Israeli officials have said. The parallels couldn't be more blatant.

These two like to make RL comparisons even when there are clearly no attempts to do so. It's just part of how they react to TV. I can't say I agree with it personally, but I can appreciate the perspective.

"Inaros deliberately targeted our citizens. Now he's using his own people as human shields. Their blood is on his hands, not yours."
~Admiral Delgado
I don't know how you can possibly compare this work of sci-fi with the massacre of civilians in Gaza. There's clearly no parallels at all.

I see what Clarus was saying about the gendered response in the opposed opinions of how the U.N. would handle Pallas station, with the women at the table taking a more peaceful stance. However, I did hear at least one woman have a more militant stance. So, not completely gendered, but it was noticeable that most of the men took a hardline approach.

Interesting topic regarding Reaction Channels. I must say that between the two types I do prefer yours because I have little patience for fake.
I understand the point as you pointed out the why it's done but it's just not something I can stomach. I'm still able to have a good time/fun even with a Reaction Channel being real and sometimes calling out things.
Sometimes it's probably going to be something I called out as well so I'd rather see that than someone faking over the issue. But to each their own, another great reaction! Can't wait for the penultimate episode!

I think that's a better description for the Free Navy, as opposed to the OPA in general. Not all members of the OPA agree with Marco or his methods. The OPA at large is a pretty diverse group with various methods to achieve better human rights for Belters.
But yeah, 'Space-Hamas' is definitely a very apt description for the Free Navy. The similarities are very striking.

The thing about CO2 that you were probably thinking of is that your body can't tell if it doesn't have enough oxygen, it can just tell if you have too much CO2. Therefore you can suffocate without knowing it if a different gas that is denser than oxygen displaces it all because the CO2 level doesn't rise, you just don't have oxygen to breath. Detecting oxygen is hard to do biologically, but detecting CO2 is easy because too much of it makes your blood acidic.

Robert Evans from the Behind the Bastards podcast is a big Expanse fan and has referred to the OPA as "Space Hamas" for years now. Very apt description.
