I think you nailed the whole reason why I thought aspects of the show were kind of blah. I really hope they get it together more for S2 with that unified vision you're talking about. That's coming from someone who only ever watch that Avatar movie thing that came out about 15 years ago and I hadn't watched it since. Watching the animated now and like half way through. I think Aang is probably the least represented in the live action at the moment, and that's mostly due to the writing leaving out his charismatic moments like randomly being psyched about being able to bend a fidget spinner, and a little related to the actor needing some growth in showing emotions a little less forced. He's young so I don't mind it and I'm sure he'll improve rapidly - he's a great actor in a lot of other ways. I did actually like the way they blended several plotlines together in this episode and I think it helps advance the plot because only 8 episodes.
