One Piece Ep 130 Full Reaction!

LOL buddy you got to pay better attention to the story. The Nico Robin slander is crazy.

Yeah pell's survival is honestly the only bs move that I believe everyone can agree on. However its later explained why he can survive that so just deal with it.

I don't think you've really been paying attention to Robin at all. She: - Helped Vivi learn of Mr 0's true identity. - Gave the straw hats a option to sail straight to Alabasta. - Pretended to kill Igaram and Pell (the first time he "died"). - Saved Luffy (twice). - Made sure that Crocodile couldn't fulfill the most important part of his plan. No she is no saint, but I think you have a really manichaeistic view of things. I get that you see One Piece as "children's" show, but that doesn't mean the morality needs to be black and white (especially in a show about pirates). If that's the case General Iroh is a genocidal prick who disguises his inability or unwillingness to enact change as being wise. That's not an accurate description of his character, but if you see things in black and white that's who he is, especially when you don't know the character. Also, I doubt you'll find someone who will defend Pell's fake out death. On this front you're preaching to the choir.

Okay, everyone hates the next saga, but as a fan of classic gothic fiction, it's one of my *favorites.* It's a weiiird arc where book lovers that recognize the influences LOVE it and anime/manga-only fans don't really enjoy it. (Don't read the inspirations until you've STARTED the series, I'm gonna tuck them way down here mods warn Nerdy) (Castle of Otranto, Dr. Moreau's island, a really, really obvious one I won't name just in case, a bit of Peter Pan, Soria Moria Castle [a norwegian novel!] and I believe some Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. There are probably some even *I* didn't pick up on.)

Berry

Nico robin has been presented from the beginning as a grey character. She tried to help the crew since her introduction: -She offered the log pose to the crew to skip little garden and the trap of the other baroque works agents; - She didn't kill Igaram. We can see before the explosion her hands. She probably saved him; - She saved luffy's life twice: in the desert and with the antidote; -She didn't kill Tashigi and she could have without any problem if she was evil. She broke her leg just because Tashigi was trying so hard to stop her; -She didn't tell crocodile about the weapon and preferred to be killed by him Yes she was in an evil organization but she was also sabotaging Crocodile in various occasions. Hasn't everyone that has joined the crew been a "damsel in distress" type? Associating that trope to just Nami and Robin really isn't fair. Everyone had to have Luffy and the crew help them out of a bad situation. Love your reactions

I think this arc and the one that directly follows it are the worst ones in terms of "negated deaths". Like, yes, it's an Oda writing habit in general, but this and the next arc are definitely the most...obvious...about it? I can't think of any other arc where it's such a glaring feature, even though it still pops up from time to time. A bit worried though - the next arc is (in my view) worse than Alabasta in terms of negating consequences, with the notable exception of Pell, which is just a peak wut moment.
