Right?! Especially since the last thing she remembers is being grabbed from behind in her bed and then she doesn't wake up through the whole fight with the demon!

Another of my favorite things about this episode. Tanjiro basically frames Kazumi as a serial killer. This kid's going to show up with one of the missing girls carrying the hairpins of all the rest of the missing girls? XD

Regarding your comment in the intro about the villain being a "dude in a fedora"... This is set in the Taishou period which is when western influence began to flood into Japan. The fact that he dresses in a suit and wears a fedora is screaming western influence at us, and as I understand it there is a not insignificant amount of resentment in that period toward the erosion of Japanese traditions because of that influence, one might even say it was a "corruption" of the "proper" way of living.
Whether the mangaka intended that to be the message behind Muzan's look, it feels like a valid reading. It feels similar to how older Vampire narratives are often not seen in their original context of being an allegory for the aristocracy and wealthy land owners in particular.

If you wanted to look into the time period Demon Slayer is set in, it's Japan's Taishou Period. From 1912-1926. The after credit scenes tell you the time period, but without looking into it the anime does make it seem a lot earlier because we start in a little cabin in the countryside.

To answer your previous question; I think this is the only demon that targets children for the express purpose of them being underage like this. Other children could become targets but I don't remember them saying it was for that reason. ie: Someone being attacked because they are close and happen to be a child. Or w/e other reason, but the narrative doesn't imply that sort of metaphor.
Also we've seen Nezuko change sizes a couple of times, once being to get smaller so she would fit in the basket. Now idk why they didn't animate it in these two but it was fuckin hilarious that they hid it right when you started making fun of it. Perfect timing! LOL
You didn't however miss the fact that they are in a period of Japan when there was electricity but a lot of things were still very traditional. I've seen many a reactor get confused by this and not realize/know about Japan's transition during the turn of the century. If I'm getting my history right.
