Your question about the use of the word "wives" would have been answered by the post credit scene. And on the "spank" situation, I'm no fan of it either, so my comments below aren't meant as a defense of the spank. Rather, they are meant to provide some additional clarity. Based on your clarification, you were uncomfortable with him interacting with her in that way since she wasn't under his command. However, Uzui did say that he didn't need Shinobu's permission to take anyone who isn't a Tsugoku, which is like a Hashira's direct pupil. Shinobu does have a Tsugoku, Kanao, the girl who flips the coin. The girl Uzui was trying to take is a ranked member of the DS corps and not a Tsugoku; therefore, she technically is required to follow any Hashira's orders. He did have the right to order her and discipline her for not following orders. That being said, why the spank and not a stern lecture? I think there are two reasons: 1) it fits his personality and makes sense for him to do it in-universe, and 2) they most likely thought teenage boys would find it entertaining.
