Oathbringer Ch 111 Audiobook Reaction!

I listened to a lot of their WoT book club - some of it got repetitive. Are you talking about Mat and the Seanchan?

Mwill

These two need a group to relate to to invest in anything. Listen to their wheel of time podcasts, and they clearly turned on one of their favorite characters once he got to a certain point.

Zyrus

A bit? I've been watching them for a while now, and it's not a 'bit'. Nerdy is pretty much full chaotic with a heavy bias against 'privilege'. That being said, they both think Alethi culture is bad, which makes sense given they're canadian and have a thing about 'colonialism'.

Zyrus

I really don't think Sanderson wants the reader to root for any race or species in particular. Both Singers and Humans are capable of doing good and evil. These aren't Orcs and Elves. Personally, I'm pretty sure I'd want be Azish in Azir if born on Roshar. They seem like my kind of people.

Mwill

I do think that as an actor and not say, the military, Nerdy and Claroos have a bit of a natural inclination toward "Passion" vs. "Honor" in their lives anyway that we should take into account. They're buying a bit of Odium's press releases and need to go back and look at what his plan and overall motivation seems to be.

Mwill

You really have to look at their actions and not at their words. Hoid is less insistent than Odium that he's the good guy, but he shows up periodically through Shallan's life (who is otherwise a stranger to him) to provide mentorship and help with her sanity. Odium periodically tortures his servants to remind them that he can. Feels like Odium calling himself "Passion" is a bit like Lucifer calling himself the Morningstar in various stories. Look at what he does, not what he says.

Mwill

Honor is bad, but "Hate" is totally the good guy. We dont know who fired the first shots yet. Maybe the humans were welcomed at first, but then they took all the good jobs, and brought all the crimes, and the Parshendi decided to do a mass deportation? (they were refugees at first, not armies doing an invasion) Probably not, probably was the humans who started shit, but we dont know how it all began. If the spren betrayal happend first, Parsh probably didnt like that very much.

David Krantz

Nerdy, you're making excuses for Odium because of your bias against the Alethi. Odium is clearly using both species as slaves.

Zyrus

You need to re-read the Roshar essay in Unbounded.

Thanks Gameface!
