Sorry if it came across weird or confusing; I'm not accusing you of calling them titillating. I was saying that your focus on these scenes seems to be angled as if the show was pushing them as fan service, when it's more DanDaDan being weird for the sake of being weird af. Like how you argued you wouldn't be surprised if some people remembered DanDaDan purely for that scene, which would surprise me after 12 episodes of weirdness accross the board.
I didn't say anything about the cliffhanger being normal or good, and doubt you'll see much pushback there. It's a bizarre cliffhanger purely to make people go read the manga before next July.

I think that is all fair. I don't mind the show exploring those themes, and it has done so very well in the past, I just really can't believe this is how the season ends.

At no point in this did I say they made it titillating. I said it's a weird place to leave the season off at and I would feel differently if there were an episode next week. Given that this isn't even a chapter break moment in the Manga I feel justified in that criticism.

The problem is that you keep treating these scenes like they are fan service, despite the show specifically never making them titillating or trying to paint them as a form of attractive situation.
Can't think of anyone genuinelly making it to episode 12 and going "oh yeah DanDaDan, the show where Momo almost got raped" as the thing they remember, or as if that was an actual key point of the show.
We literally had an episode about the life of a woman selling herself out and the terrible outcome with the yakuza in the end. At no point has this show pulled its punches or pretended that it's a comedy aimed at children.

Because of pacing they had more time to fill then I expect they wanted - the perfect stop would have been them just getting into the house or jiji’s demon reveal.

The dark sides to sex is a constant theme with the show - it being disgusting is the point. This is the last time it will go to these extremes so far...(Ch177 this was 33) The manga uses a lot of sexual jokes, to talk about these topics in a palatable way - then has very real moments like this or the Acro-silky backstory to put what it’s talking about in perspective… (this also applies to ep 1 but isn’t as well handled because it’s job is to introduce all aspects of the show) If it makes you feel better, it’s not for fan service. That is ironically is more clear in the anime as it actually changes shots in regular scenes so they are less sexualised but doubles down in the genuine scenes - creating more of a line between what is supposed to and not supposed to be taken seriously.

As a manga reader this was a terrible place to leave off. Last week would have been a great end point, but there would have been no cliffhanger... I don't want to spoil anything so wont say where it would be good to cut off, but there may have been a better scene in a few episodes that would have been a great cliff hanger.
