Hey Nerdy, I would highly recommend you watch season 2 episode 1 before the movie, then watch the movie, then start from season 2 episode 8. Episodes 2 through 7 are simply a rehash of the movie with worse pacing to fit in an episodic format.

As I read the situation Shinobu asked Kanao whether she wanted to join the boys in training. (I'm assuming you've seen the next episode by now, but there's more context there.) Because she's gotten used to relying on the coin to make decisions she follows the coin's advice rather than her feelings which were implied to be that she would have liked to get closer to Tanjiro. FYI the kanji in this case are literally "Front" and "Back", which in our parlance would be heads and tails. Where the F Kanae (Shinobu's sister) got a front/back coin that she just happened to have on her at that moment, I could not tell you.
