A quick note about the last line of the discussion, and this may seem snarky (maybe it is a little) "If she never says anything how can she tell people her name" Firstly, she uses sign language several times with Jinx in the series (and it's adorable every single time!). Secondly, writing exists in this universe too. Not directed at the reactors but... Non speaking people can communicate!

2024-11-22 07:30:45 +0000 UTCRe: Why Isha sacrificed herself Isha has been mirroring powder's early life this whole time. For the purpose of the poetic symmetry of the story (whether she is actually dead or not) I think she needed to mirror Powder's behavior at the cannery, but in some ways she outdoes powder. Powder didn't think she was going to die when she sent her monkey bomb toward Deckard after stuffing it full of hex cores, but even without words I think we all know Isha knew she would likely die given the way she closes her eyes as she pulls the trigger on the overloaded zap gun. I have a little hope that Isha's story will continue to mirror Powder's, as Singed is right there, and Singed has a soft spot for saving the lives of the daughters of Zaun with highly unethical human experimentation. I think the narrative purpose is also for Isha to illustrate to Jinx why Vi didn't want her to come on the fateful night in ep 3. I feel like they're going to punch us incredibly hard in the gut tomorrow night with 7/8/9. I hope ep 7 is an Ekko focused episode again, he's been missing too long.

I do agree we're go nna need the whole thing and I'm certain that we're gonna see the flash back to Jayce's perspective... something he went through over hte last year or whatever time it was radicalized him and he volunteered to come back and do this for something he has volunteered for... something like that... We'll see of course... but yeah... ouch...

2024-11-21 22:45:00 +0000 UTCI will say, I don't necessarily think Isha did what she did because Vander was in pain. She's been building to this for a while. She's routinely thrown herself into harm's way to protect the people she cares about, from fighting both Rictus and Vi when they threatened the Zaunites/Jinx all the way down to just standing between Warwick and the people in the commune when Warwick was scared by the noise. Isha is essentially what young Powder wished she could have been, and I think she recognized that neither Jinx nor Vi were in a position to do anything about Vander anymore. She's also someone radicalized by fascist occupation, and so she's in the middle of the kind of civil war violence that so often pulls in kids. I do think she exists as a mechanism to help evolve Jinx's character and help her deal with her trauma, because none of the stories involving her, Vi and Vander coming back together would have been possible with the highly unstable version of Jinx we knew in S1.
