Ooohhhh the emotional damage. Over 1000 episodes in and I can still cry watching you cry. 300 episodes in...you earned your tears. The cult of One Piece knows it is hard to recommend One Piece because of the time commitment. We also know there are no shortcuts. You can't possibly let someone watch story recaps and throw them into Water 7. It doesn't work that way. The Live Action is doing their best and the East Blue Saga is ridiculously simple in comparison. For good or bad, One Piece is about the journey. We are, we are...on the cruise.

Again, it's such a nice display of Luffy not having to deal with everything.

2024-12-26 02:19:00 +0000 UTCWithout taking anything away from Oda, who obviously crafted a powerful story, but man, you have to really appreciate how Toei took something that was already fantastic and made it even better. The music, the lighting, the transitions, the voice-acting choices, the whole bit. All added on top of what Oda had already put down, transforming it into something sublime. it has also been pointed out to me that Oda isn't afraid to have his characters ugly cry. Other anime, you might see the single Manly Tear from a male character, or rivers of tears from female characters. But Oda shows his characters *bawling*. It's easy to plug into those emotions when you see them portrayed right there on the screen.
