With regards to Mad Max. The original is more of a low budget thriller. It happens before the apocalypse in the later movies, but you see the gangs and violence they all share. Also the stunt men were paid in cases of beer because George Millar had no money for the film. The Road Warrior is the closest to Fury Road in the terms of aesthetics and theme. It also has the amazing Dogg, a rescue they saved days from euthanasia, and the only dog in Australia that had a vasectomy, and not neutered. Beyond Thunderdome is set in a single location and has Tina Turner. It’s more about Max trying to redeem himself and not needing to Be Another Hero. I think you would enjoy them, especially Road Warrior. All of the Mad Max movies have set the tone for the wasteland aesthetic, and all of them have some pretty unique vehicles.
