Perhaps. But I believe the term "innocent until proven guilty" applies here. I don't think a few white lies warranted a death sentence.

A few understandable lies, ones Katherine has had to tell too in some ways, but still this does make her a confessed liar to Katherine. Besides, someone with dark arts was apparently releasing a miasma in town. She would be neglectful if she ruled out someone just from a previous...altercation.
