Hi everyone :)
I intended to have this video finished last friday, except I decided to pick up skateboarding again last thursday, after 17 years off the board... It went surprisingly well though, and I regained control and confidence quickly, or so I thought, as then I took a seemingly light fall, but it tore up something in my knee, and for 3 days I screamed in agony everytime I accidentally lightly twisted my leg or put weigth on my knee. Long story short, I couldn't use my right leg at all for 2-3 days. Thought I was looking at a 6-weeker for recovery, but it suddenly seems to be improving surprisingly rapidly again, I can even walk already again. One more week of rest maybe and it's back to the skatepark ;)
Anyway, for those interested, here's a random face reveal skate video filmed in the early 2000's... I had to buy an actual handheld videocamera with Hi-8 tapes IIRC, smartphones with SD-cards weren't a thing yet (nor was digital video stabilisation a function yet). Anyway, seems like it was a forebode of my video editing career to come hehehe. https://youtu.be/JT95rnUh1nM
Right, factorio! I have been practicing and developing my "Warptorio in as few warps as possible"-strategy a LOT (you know how it goes when you get really into a factorio playthrough... no eat no sleep and sitting next to untouched, cold cups of coffee :s ), and the strategy is is getting nicely dialed in... I got a Reasonably Reliably Repeatable strategy written out, with different goals for each planet visited, which SHOULD allow me to visit a ridicilously low number of warp worlds before returning home...
Next to the edited series, I will record a full, mostly unedited run as a patreon exclusive video. It's not that I want to withhold material from the youtube audience, but I don't want to "swamp" my high-effort youtube videos with low-effort recordings with all it's dead moments and grindy bits. Anyway. The video will probably be of my final practice run, so a seperate playthrough with different warp world than the edited series will be (but the same home world). I will also have a blueprint book to share with blueprints for the different stages of the game, for those who enjoy blueprints :)
About the series above, the all-achievements run on 100% evolution, I have *mostly* worked out the script to not drag on near the end of the series. Now, while some seem to think the following is like an actual measuring stick for how good a given factorio video is, it has never been my goal or intention to edit down "as many hours of gameplay to as few minutes as video possible". I rather focus on creating a "viewing experience", building a story around the amazing factorio OST, while still giving you a fully complete insight of how the actual playthrough and strategies where achieved, instead of glancing over. If, while watching my videos, you get completely sucked in, forget about the outside world, and think something along the lines of "wait what, this video ends ALREADY?" followed by a "huh, HOW was that 25 actual minutes?", then I feel I did a good job. That being said, my recording style + scriptwriting style doesn't really lend itself too well to "skip over a lot of recorded material", and I really had problems with figuring out HOW to deal with the last 20 hours of this playthrough without it becoming a drag. Anyway, I mostly managed to thin out the script, now let's see if I can keep that up in the editing process!
Wow that's a lot of text. Anyway, hope you enjoy the video(s)!
