I need you to criticize me more

There  is a global shortage of accepting criticism and disagreement without  imploding egos or burning bridges. I don't think we should strive  towards building a uniform monolith where we all agree on all approaches  and principles and any slight disagreement must automatically mean bad  intent and "drama".

I used to think that unity is a virtue that should be pursued. I no  longer think unity is inherently good or productive. Diversity is  strength. Variety is the norm. Different approaches only reflect  different backgrounds and they should be welcome.

The thing is, no one is gonna get things right all the time. You  don't know when they are right or wrong unless you verify their claims  with scientific methods, critical analysis, investigation or math. And  even then, certainty is extremely rare.

There is no approach that universally applies to everyone. The only  universal things are mathematics and physics. Everything else is up for  debate. I don't always get things right. And if I let my fragile ego  stand in the way of valid criticism, I need to be removed.

Criticism will always be welcome and invited in this community.  Disagreement is what makes us improve. We shouldn't be enemies because  of it. Nor should we expect that we all fall in line. There is no line.

I am eternally grateful to everyone that has openly expressed  criticism and disagreement. It's necessary. And I admit that I don't  always respond appropriately, especially when I suspect someone assumes I  have bad intent. But I am gonna work on that. There is nothing I love  more than people openly and constructively disagreeing with me. It's the  integrity of information that matters. Not fragile egos. Let's be  critical, analytical and skeptical. Nothing is sacred.

Thank you for posting the forums. It is true that Linux isn't properly secured. It's pretty terrible what gaping holes are left on Linux that have been patched on MacOS. Even Windows offer some basic sandboxing which is completely absent on Linux. Android and iOS are both secure, the services built on top of them make them non-private. I am restructuring my privacy strategy to include more secure systems that also respect user privacy, such as GrapheneOS or a de-googled Android phone that maintains Android's security model. I also regularly use Invidious and it's used by default on my subreddit too.

The Hated One

Hello THO, I hope that this is helpful, My criticism is for being more private, it helps to also mix your data with other people to make it seem it is the same person. For example, a VPN is more private when multiple people use the same servers, compared to someone just using a VPS setup as a VPN and only one person uses it. Also, I don't know if it helps, but there are instances like Invidious that is a front end client for Youtube. It blocks ads and trackers easily, and I use LibRedirect chrome extension/firefox addon, to redirect all Youtube links to Invidious ones. There is also a way on Firefox and Chrome on how to switch instances with a shortcut, in case the instance is down. Firefox: about:addons - click on cog wheel - manage extension shortcuts. Chrome: chrome://extensions/shortcuts This is not my opinion, but there is a forum talking about the video "Apple Is Terrible For Your Privacy". One opinion talks about why privacy doesn't matter when everybody else uses e.g. Facebook and Snapchat. Another opinion talks about how bashing Apple is fair, but says Linux isn't private (not sure how), and isn't secure. Link: https://malwaretips.com/threads/apple-is-terrible-for-your-privacy-the-hated-one.107943/ Here is a Reddit post about the dumbest ideas of privacy: https://reddi.tk/r/PrivacyGuides/comments/rhbik5/10_dumbest_ideas_in_privacy_communities/ I'm also interested about sandboxing within linux. I read an article about security within Linux and Android, I forgot which link. But I found this website instead: https://www.networkworld.com/article/3073254/android-apps-run-securely-on-chrome-os-in-linux-containers.html The website talks about why security with sandboxing and containing android apps has better security than Linux. I've heard about FireJail though, a sandboxing software for Linux. I think virtual machines work well, but it takes a hit on performance. I've heard about firewalls for Android from your channel, so why not Gnu/Linux? I've found a firewall for Linux called OpenSnitch. Take this with a grain of salt. I just stumbled across the second paragraph's link. If you want me to find more criticism, ask me.

Funny enough, the person/channel I recommended actually created an alternative to Patreon called New_Project2 taking basically zero cut. It was picking up steam, but banks shut him down when it was getting bigger and when they found out money was going to individuals they didn't like. He talked about it on the The Dick Show.

Find an alternative to patreon. 🙂

Mr Samratt

Branching out to other communities would definitely be a good step, in my opinion too. Thanks for your suggestion and amazing feedback!

The Hated One

Hello THO. I love your content. You truly are in a field doing things no one else is doing and presenting useful information in a way that benefits everyone that needs to benefit from it. That being said, I have a single recommendation, and I don't know how feasible it is, and perhaps you've already considered it, but I'm just going to throw it out there: Your channel is essentially like a education channel and you're the spokesman. That being said, "TheHatedOne" as an online entity could get the message out there more reaching wider audiences. If this compromises you in any way, perhaps you should reconsider, but I think it would be extremely beneficial for you to try and get on some other platforms as a guest and to shill yourself if you are already not doing so. For example, The Dick Show would be my #1 recommendation. This is a comedy-esque, nonliberal podcast, nonPC where the host as a 20k+ Patreon and loyal user base and has been doing it for over 5 years. It's mostly about raging about stuff, but the guest similarly needs people calling in in a, excuse the normie analogy-- Joe Rogan sort of way, but I find his audience and your message, if you were to go on this show and spread the important to a lot of this stuff even once could benefit you greatly. He's a smart guy that would be receptive to you, and I think a single episode could potentially net you some more followers. Just a suggestion. You're the best. Keep doing God's work.

This is a very solid feedback. Thank you! Taking notes!

Yes, this is very good!

The Hated One

OK, you asked for it... I have been subscribed for quite some time using newpipe, and I enjoy some of your content but find that it needs to be filtered for tinfoil-hat to get out the useful parts. The issue isn't that your information isn't accurate, it is that it preaches to the choir and is not good at attracting the uninformed... Let me explain my POV, if you aren't already informed enough about the topics you cover, it is hard to gauge the level of importance and impact of each issue you raise, to give you a concrete example, with "being anonymous in a protest" you give lots of examples of ways they use biometrics, but you give no idea of how likely each method actually is, so the uniformed will see it as tin-foil hat, instead if you give some context of how important each one is and how likely it is to be used, then you would probably only recommend covering face and turning phone off, as the other methods (gait detection, etc are possible, but not frequently used). So I would give concrete metrics on usage. The major missing part to your journalism is "WHY?", you start from the point of convinced, and are informing people that are already convinced. If you took the angle of trying to explain WHY people should care, similar to how investigative journalists do, you might be able to attract the unwashed masses. you don't need to dumb down like the film "social dilemma" but you do need to start from WHY anyone should care about their privacy (etc). Just a suggestion, if you could do a video on Neo Liberalism and how it's eroded and fucked everything it would make me very happy and it might be a starting point. On another issue, I would worry less about the videos being informative (and bland), and more about showing your personality (like you did in your plea for patrons). As packaging the data in a more amusing / passionate format will encourage more people to watch and make absorbing the content more enjoyable. You are doing good, don't loose hope. +1 for fuck PC.

I don’t do PC crap. I am a very blunt person

Will do

Great post. I like integrity and I like you and your source references and I pretty much agree with the comments above. We’re just getting started with the hated community and we’re not here to create an us and them group.

Keith Levene

Yeah we tend to go on a tangent. It can be tough to strike the perfect balance sometimes. Will try my best though!

The Hated One

I believe that as this channel and community grow this will just happen organically. I know for me, I've finally found a group of people that just aren't happy with being a number and data set to sell to other shady-ass companies. The tribe will grow and the word will reach further into the darkness. The only thing I have to offer in that respect is in the podcasts. You're both very thorough, but, there are moments when we're beating a dead horse. Also, let's try to throw the phrase "dick sucking thumbnails" around some more! Cheers

rook_actual

i agree with you, however, you should also not be too harsh to yourself. Take your time also to be happy about what you achieved while being humble. Giving and taking kind criticism is best I would say.
