Should people be allowed to bear autonomous weapons? Episode 012

Privately held weapons have their use, but the reality is that the threshold for their use against government is extremely high. You make a great point by referencing the civil right movement. The injustices faced by minorities (specifically blacks) at that time were atrocious, but even in those times the use of weapons would have been counterproductive to the goals of the movement. Weapons in dictatorship countries like Australia would likely not make a huge difference either. Weapons are only likely to become an issue for the government when a significant portion of the population feel significantly enough threatened that they collectively come to the conclusion that violence or threats of violence are the only remaining means of evoking change. I don’t think America is even close to this point. While there are many unpopular things happening, the justice system still affords sufficient protection to Americans that this is a viable (and far less violent) path to effecting change or protecting rights.

This is in response to your previous post: First of all: don't be embarrassed of your speaking skills. I love listening to your weekly podcast episodes and have never found it to be repetetive or unfluid. But even if it were, you don't have to be perfect. I recently watched one of your first videos and was impressed with how much your voice has improved. You sound much more professional and clear now. The Video on Australia for example was amazing, much better audio than in the video about algorithms that control your life. My impression is that your issue is not really your public speaking skills. To me it seems like the issue is your self esteem. You are very self reflected, which is a very positive trait. But this strength can also drag you down when it only focuses on the things you're not so good at. My suggestion would be to work on that instead of your voice. Insecurity and nervousness when talking into a microphone will vanish as soon as you are more confident in yourself. And you have every reason to do so. You have more integrity and ethical values that 99% of youtubers out there and you don't care about money but about changing the world for the better. For me both meditation and more social Interaction with as many different people as possible has helped a lot. But I'm no psychologist of course. You know best what's best for you. Excited for your video on military AI! Keep it up!
