It looks fine enough, I guess. I feel like Cwtch and Briar have a better foundation for the fact they are trying to go beyond just being yet another messenger and they are actually trying to build a new platform on its own.

The Hated One

Because of what you said about Signal/Briar/Cwtch: What's your opinion on SimpleX Chat? I've been looking for a messenger for a certain group of people (most less technical, some iOS) with a TM that makes having phone numbers attached to the account quite problematic. Even though it isn't widely recommended, I felt that SimpleX would be a good choice here. It doesn't have an unique account identifier, is available on Android and iOS and imo comparatively accessible in general. The security whitepaper & threat model also seems solid imo.

Completely agree about Brave. I'm just sick and tired of all those people recommending against/warning about Brave for a multitude of reasons that completely fall apart the second you actually think about where the problem is. It's always been unsubstantiated so far. I saw the PG thread as well a few days ago, but after having done so a few times I just couldn't bring myself to give the same reply again. And I'm not even a security professional or anything, I just *actually try to think/research* before I say something, especially when making recommendations for other people. Like, it isn't THAT hard, I'm confident most could at least be a little more critical, if they wanted.
