EOK 0.0.20 part 3 - 4/30/2023


Hey everyone!    

Another month, another update. I will keep this post short and do a news post next weekend for the game plans for May.  


Let's start off with some fixes. Save system is back up. It should be working, but do let us know if anything goes wrong. We are reaching to the point of where old save files might cause too much trouble. We will look into a way to work around old files  corrupting but for now the feature seem stable enough. 

Minle and Chika have been working on bug fixes this month. We got a bunch of bugs fixed. A list of the bugs will be below. 

As I said before I wasn't able to do animations but I did work on art. 

I finally got the new visual novel artwork of Avina into the story. The new art does look better and fits with the rest of the newer art. 

On top of that I added in the smile grapple move! It's not fully animated and rough but I got the key frames done. With Minle's new code, I was able to load up the frames as a place holder in the slime's mini game grapple. 

Aside from that I updated the so far screen at the start of the game. It has an updated artwork for the game and some updated UI.

Gummi our item artist has made some new items, she worked on the HP potion. Water and milk bottles, they are now in the game. The large potion still needs a little more work coding wise but the small and medium are working in the game.


Finally our writer is working on a preview for the first romance story of the game. It involves an npc in the future tutorial but we might give you folks a first read of the story when it's done. Together, we are slowly mapping out the world and working on finishing the main story. Once that's done, we will be ready to hit the ground running after the stable build to work on chapter one. 


Sadly,  a few sets back, we added a new dev tool to the game to help add in new items but this caused a few bugs to appear. Again.. mostly my bad coding when I first did this. Armor and weapons were effected and Minle spent some time to fix the armor. Weapons still need work as images and stats keep getting lost. We didn't have time to load that fix for this month. So we will send that fix for the next build. 

We'll have a news post out next weekend for May. Apologies for the change in pace. Since weapons are broken, I might focus more on combat for this next build polish wise. It's now looking rather rough compared to the rest of the game.

Updated the credits for new patrons


Bug fixes:

Save system will save the city locations on the save file correctly

Loot duplication by the exit button and shrine button has been fixed 

Goblin combat soft lock after grapple fixed

Esc quitting no longer causes the game to crash

Death trigger will no longer miss 0 hp and mess up the survival UI

Volume will now mute the game music even in combat

Items over spawning in some loot has been fixed

Armor will now appear in combat again
