Important News.. Upcoming Patreon taxes

Hello everyone!

Thank you for participating in the monthly poll. If you haven't voted yet, you should do it now here! There's still 9 days remaining to vote.

Now moving to the main notice...

On the past weeks, Patreon has been announcing the implementation of taxes in some Patreon pledges starting on July 1st.

This taxes are being implemented by the law and will affect some parts of US and other countries. You can read more about this  here.

TLDR: Taxes will be applied whenever you pay money through Patreon(applies to monthly pledges to pay per-creation) for around 4% to 11% within the US. These taxes are based depending on the country and state you live(Complete list of countries and states affected by this taxes are included in the previous link).

For the main benefits that will be affected by these taxes apply:

Categories as Exclusive Community access(early access, discord server access, polls, exclusive patron only content), Recognition(shout outs, names in credits) and Donation/General Support(support only, "pledge whatever") are most exempt of taxes in the majority of states.

Not every pledge is taxable and not all benefits are taxable. These taxes are directly paid to local governments.

In our case, the most 'affected' tiers should be the ones with a commission reward(digital good) which in case of the Cupcake tier($15) taxes should be around 60 cents to $1.65 and so on for the rest of the tiers depending on your location. Patreon itself is supposed to let you know about these changes in the upcoming days. I will be in contact with Patreon in order to have more information and if another tier can result affected by these changes.

As always, thank you so much for your support and for the time reading as this is important for everyone. Love you all. Stay safe ❤

- Sam
