Kip Log, Trails in The Sky

I was supposed to do a lot of this stuff but turns out I haven't had any time to actually PLAY VIDEOGAMES or watch animus because I've been drawing pretty much 24/7. Ahh well.

Here is one of my all time favorites! Trails in the Sky was originally for PSP but you can get both chapter 1 and 2 on steam as we speak.

Anyone who has played this fantastic series knows what a wild ride it is. I hate to use the word "epic" but it's the one that best describes this adventure spanning the length of two 50+hour games. Starts out really slow with you doing errands for the townsfolk, and really getting to know everyone and the world around you. Before you notice it you're caught up in conspiracy plots and chaos all around you. The plot has a ton of twists that you mostly never see coming and all of the characters have their own motives and quirks.

It plays heavily on your emotions by making you grow attached to the characters and treating them like punching bags later on. I've played my share of games and watched hundreds of animus but nothing has made me cry like a little girl for hours on end like this game does. It makes you appreciate the characters succeeding, people reuniting, families being brought back together and friends surviving deadly situations. It's the best kind of happy-emotional feelings that actually matter. Sure there are some sad-touching scenes, but the most emotional ones are those of triumph.

It requires patience, however. The plot takes a while to kick in and some people dislike the combat system(which I love because while it's turn based, it also has positioning ) and if you're one for seriousness and grim settings it's probably not for you. Don't take me wrong, the game has a lot of drama and serious heartwrenching situations, but it focuses on being a lighthearted slice-of-life styled adventure at heart.

Also, I'm not a huge fan of JRPGS, but this one feels really special for me.
If you like stories with a lot of heart, deep lengthy plots and fascinating characters, I really suggest trying this one! Please don't spoil yourself of the awesome plot twists beforehand!

Comments

I know, that's why I go solely by stuff people recommend me.

Kipteitei

I would def check it out, but I just spent my money on No Man's Sky and am ready to crawl into a hole and play it non stop for three days straight before I have to go back to work.

Traegerthorn

If you say so, I'll have to check it out sometime. I've been wanting to try some JRPGs, but there's just so many.

Some Aigis

Ohhh really? Cold Steel is kind of a spinoff because it references a lot of stuff about Kiseki series. I'd like to get it but its not for pc yet ;-;

Kipteitei

I've yet to properly play Ys', I really want to but my first experience was thwarted by the combat because I absolutely hated it. But it is on my to-do list.

Kipteitei

I'm so happy I am not alone on these games. This and Ys both are all some of the most powerful in works of games series I've ever played.

Lockwood Maku

you know I actually purchased the first one in a steam sale a couple years back, and then managed to by Trails of Cold Steel for Ps3 recently without even making the connection that they're in the same series.

The Moonstone System

I've drawn Schera from Trails as a pledge reward, but that's it. I hope more people would play it and request me to fatten the girls up ;w;

Kipteitei

Such high praise! Have you ever drawn any of those 3 fat before and I've not recognised them? Definitely been on my wishlist since your waifu square, just wish I had 50 hours to spare.
