When her friends comforted her, she was so wrapped up in how they made her feel that she didn't notice gaining 60 lbs. When they all went out for a night on the town, she got competitive and thought really condescending things about her friends. Now she's so fixated on her own body that she doesn't seem to get that she rejected a sincere kiss from Tina. I think we're going to see Sydney growing empathy along with her waistline as the story goes on.
