Concerning recent art

I I'm gonna try and experiment a little with different styles for the next couple pages of no lunch break. Read further if of interest:

Wanted to write a short explanation about what's going on right now, so:

At the moment I'm going through a pretty harsh time where I hate everything I make and I cannot decide on what I want my style to look like... All of my work takes too long to make for the quality I produce. Like I feel the quality is not worth the time spent. And if I go ham and concentrate on doing a really good quality picture it just takes even longer and I don't have that much time.

The recent pictures I've been happy with were the CC one and I guess the Zero Two to an extent... but those both took days to finish and I cannot dedicate that much time when I need to concentrate on getting more content. I guess this is a quality-over-quantity issue but it's kind of tricky because the quality might not be worth losing the extra picture I could have done.

I also feel like my comic pages take too much effort and look like shit so I have to do something about that. I will try doing a few pages with different styles and I'll see what works faster&better and also will ask what you guys prefer. I want to find a way to do it that works for me and all of my readers as well.

I'm also trying to do practice and shit on the side so I'm sorry if there is a bit of a draught of content other than the comic recently... I just hope to get over this hump of bad art vibes and so I can eventually produce better stuff for everyone.

I believe in you no matter what you choose! <3

Hey, you do you, if it took you a few days for a single picture I wouldn't care, I know that you don't want to do that but hey, I wouldn't tell you to do what you want if I didn't appriciate your art, I did download every comic page for a reason and payed $10 to do so because your art is so good i'm rambling because it's like 2am and i've spent the past 3 hours downloading comic pages that I love so that's why this comment makes about zero sense. Have a good day/night/cheese whatever

I agree with the comment about knocking it out of the park. This comic and the artwork for it are absolutely awesome.

IL

I'm sorry you feel that way about your art. I understand we are all our own harshest critic. Bit I want you to know I'm with you all the way! You are no matter what by far my favorite artist. Keep up the great work! Please do what style makes you happiest and the most fulfilled.

Brandon S

Personally, I felt like the last few pages have knocked it out of the park. Sara's been looking super cute lately and there's been quite a bit of background scenery. But I trust your instincts.

Emeffy

Am sorry but your work doesn't look like shit and ever one of your patreons would agree with me. I mean everything can be improve but that doesn't mean it needs to be. So don't be sohard on your self. I love your art style

wolf0084

"look like shit" Seriosly?!

I'll be interested to see what you come up with. Artists tend to be their worst critics so remember: If you can't believe in yourself, believe in the me (we) that believe(s) in you!

Some Aigis

I do like how that page turned out myself. But I'd still like to find a way to do things in a way that feels natural.

Kipteitei

It's right that you find your style. In the end, since you started, you've already experienced and improved. We are all with you xD

bicicletta

I'd really like to do some more community involvement but I'm not sure how.

Kipteitei

Thanks for the honest replies everyone, this gives me some peace of mind so I can experiment a little more freely. Let's hope something good comes out of it!

Kipteitei

Love this patreon for the community

CheeryChub

Whoa, you might be onto something!!!

Kipteitei

Yes, actually. But due to my struggles I haven't been able to properly start doing anything yet.

Kipteitei

The Zero Two and CC pieces both include a slice of pizza. Clearly this is the issue and the solution is obvious: Practise drawing exclusively pizza for one week

You hit the brick wall of life crossroad. What you will do with that wall, is up to you. You can go around it, left or right. You can go over or below it Or you can BREAK IT APART. As for me personally, I broke it apprart. The Choice. Is yours.

Profe MacKnight

You still working on that DDLC side project?

Naval warfare

Funny, I've heard this kind of comment from a LOT of artists lately. As someone who's worked for hours to re-size someone's head, then getting it to match the head I erased (ugh I need to start using computers for art), I can empathize with "perfectionist's disease". It's unfortunate. If it helps, I think your art is fantastic, and sketches are often even better for me to look at than "finished" art. There's a lot more energy in sketchier stuff, so I wouldn't mind if you swapped that in if it was quicker. To be honest, the art I like best is the nudie stuff you did only a month or so ago, with Sydney in the shower. So if you think your art is sucking, I think you are incorrect :).

ScuzzBucket

I know, "Silly girl, your art's fine!" isn't what you need to hear... but it's still true. I'm sorry you feel you aren't turning out "real quality" fast enough, but the comic is NOT shit. (You want to see shit art skills, I'll send you links from DA.) I have always loved your art/style and would be thrilled to bits if I had even a fraction of your talent/skill.

Schattenjäger

we are all here to appreciate your style of art and writing. keep doing what you are doing . hope you can work your way through this situation.

Look at her... (whispers) *what a thick stick figure*

FernGilly

I wouldn't mind that at all!

Unless you start drawing literal stick figures, I'll continue to love all your art :p That's probably not very helpful in a critical way, but you definitely always have my support.

Jared Hammaker

If you want to improve your art, you could try posting sketches/WIPs and ask for critique. Taking a break could be good as well, look retrospectively at your art and find things to improve without the stress of constant updates. Anyway, hope you get of this funk soon you bastard.

Hired Goons

I've always loved your art. One of my biggest reasons for following you here on patreon. In fact it's been a privilege watching your art evolve over time. I honestly love your style. But I understand wanting to try new things

Resonswhynot

Do whatever you want Kippy, I'll keep supporting you through thicc and thin. If you ever need some feedback, ideas or a little bit of advice I'm always open for some chit-chat! Good luck, I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with in the future~

GV-97

Thank thank, I hope I'll figure out something that works

Kipteitei

There's no lack of inspiration really, I'm liking the comic right now but quality is an issue

Kipteitei

Your skill has been improving over the last few years. You are both talented and well practiced, I'm sure whichever style you settle on will be lovely. I have faith in you.

Iochannon

Your open-ness is appreciated, Kip. Quality and quantity are both important, but so is your own personal enjoyment; especially with art. Sorry to hear you’re in a slump but I know you’ll figure out what works best for you, even if it takes some time and experimenting ^_^

Hoseph Smith

Whatever you think you need to do kip, go ahead and do it. If you feel your art is taking too long for its current state of quality, change something up. If it doesn’t work out, go ahead and try something else. Just know that there are more than a few of us who already love your current style. Stay strong!

Darkwalker

All your art us great kip, I've noticed a slight drop in inspiration on your comics so I say go for it. I know whatever you make will be great!

Geb Baserr

You are your worst critic as the old saying goes, half the times we won't even notice something wrong until you point out you've been struggling with it the most. But at the same time you should be your own biggest supporter. Besides the way I see it, this usually means an artist is just getting their bearings back and master their flaws~

Nenohi Dayo

You're art is amazing! Don't regret anything! If it helps, we prefer the quality even if it takes a little longer. We also support your decisions to try something to as well, so go for it!

Berry's Bakery

Hey, go right for it. I'm really excited to see what new styles you can come up with.

The Mighty Helix

I'm so excited to hear it! In my experience, working on a style that's less labor-intensive can really help you improve as an artist, since you can experiment and practice more. Don't shy away from simplifying!

Kestrel

All of your art is great, Kip. All artists are their own worst critics. Best of work with testing new methods out though!
