I'm gonna fall back on what I said years ago, that imho, these have always been more about providing you with ideas, rather than any sort of democratic art distribution. For that reason, I'd consider taking suggestions and just picking your favorite, with the disclaimer that it'll be arbitrary and not meant to reflect on anything more than what you felt like drawing that month.

IMO it’s fine for Kip to apply personal discretion. Maybe pick from the top 3 or whatever. As long as those are the ground rules going in I can’t imagine people would have a problem with it.

I feel that in order to avoid oversaturation, you can remove the winning category of the current month, narrowing down the choices for the next month. The choices can be narrowed down further as the months come and go. They can eventually reset once the there's only one category left for its month. Because if a popular category comes back every other month, that can still risk oversaturation. I hope you and your fellow patrons can find ways to solve the issue with oversaturation of mainstream characters or otherwise.

I just like your style, I think it’s cute and I love the way you depict characters, and though you definitely have a advantage towards anime and eastern style cartoons, any time a western style character pops up in your polls, I’m always fascinated by how you would make them look, I think one of the most recent had Mrs Incredible, whom I’m not super interested in to begin with, but it got my brain going for what someone with your specific talents would do with a character design like that.

When you say "Pokémon" are you talking about Pokémon girls like Cynthia and May? or like actual Pokémon?

Maybe, but I feel like that would just result in the same winner and possibly slightly different 2&3. Which might be worth it if I did all three but this way I can do the winner of each seperate poll anyway as the 2nd and 3rd kind of become winners of their own polls.

What about doing a waifu bracket instead of a poll? Say, a group of like 2-4 characters get paired in a group and each person gets multiple votes to choose give to one person from each group, and after say 2 days of tallying, most popular advances to the next stage and so on until we get a winner. This should solve the problem where obscure characters drown completely while 1 or 2 mainstream characters dominate completely because the other votes are too split to challenge them. It also gives a more clear perception of patron opinions toward characters as whole, with "I want this character over that character" instead "I want this character out of all these characters."

Oh yeah, this is just a little quality-of-life suggestion but it’d be nice if the polls all had their answers labeled a bit more specifically w/ the name of the character and franchise, instead of just a number.

oh this is offtopic but with regard to the post that got deleted earlier, i think it should be you who makes the final decision on what to draw regardless of which character wins the poll. For example if a character that doesn’t interest you wins, you could just pick 2nd or 3rd. It’s better for everyone if you’re able to just draw the things that interest you anyway, because passion = better art in the end! :)

This baffles me as well. As a 99.9% anime artist I never expected my art to garner any interest outside that niche

Indeed they all have a place. I know what one patreon does is they get a lot of requests and after submission is done they take 25 of them randomly and put it on a poll. Here you could do say 15 or 20

even though it’s lagging behind a bit in this poll, it’s interesting that so many people seem to be interested in you doing art based on western media, even though that’s kinda always been outside your niche. i wonder where all of that interest has come from? it feels like a relatively recent development too
