Dear Patrons,

Thank you very much for your support! This week we would like to present you with an art history lecture with Tom Richards, Assistant Director of The Florence Academy of Art. This lecture takes a deep dive into the storied history of Titian’s Portrait of a Lady and Her Daughter. This Venetian portrait is a prime case study in modern restorations that convert the work back to the artist’s original vision, an effort that in this case took 20 years to complete. In this lecture we are guided through the history of the painting, who the sitters are, and why after Titian’s death, it was first altered to depict Tobias and the archangel Raphael, a change that was discovered in 1948 after x-radiographic analysis. We hope you thoroughly enjoy this lecture!
