-CANON OMAKE 1: MAKI’S FEELINGS-
Bang! The door slammed close as she jumped on her bed. Her face burning red in embarrassment and something else.
“Why did I do that!?” Maki yelled at herself in embarrassment as she thrashed the pillow on her bed.
It was a blink of the moment decision… Ever since she had heard of him she had been curious…
But that was all, right? She was just curious…
No. She shook her head as she chewed on her lips. Somewhere along the line my feeling evolved…
Was it when she first saw him?
Or when she was mesmerized by his smile as he cut up the curse spirit?
Maybe it was when he sparred with her like a true equal… And did not look down on her for not having cursed energy…

Megumi Fushiguro was different. From the first time she met him, he was always different than other people in her life.
Before even meeting him, she had subconsciously judged him to be the same as everyone else at the Zenin Clan. The judging and traditional misogynistic assholes.
After all, someone with the inherited technique of that clan would also be like that clan right?
But then that first mission happened and… her feeling changed. She realized that she was wrong. That Megumi was nothing like what she had thought him as. That he was good and better that anyone at the clan. She became curious and she learned more about him.
He could be calm and joking one second and an idiotic battle maniac the next. He could be mediating between two aggressive people one minute and beating them up the next.
He was paradoxical. She had realized this long ago and that was what interested her in him.
His strength, his drive, his personality, his body… All of them made her attracted to him.
And once again… somewhere along the line her interest evolved into-
Maki Zenin was inherently not the type of person that would live in denial of her own feelings for long, so no matter how embarrassed and light it made her feel, she acknowledged it to herself.
“I like Megumi.” She muttered as her face burned and she buried it in her pillow.
What am I going to do now? She couldn’t help but internally scream at herself.
She didn’t really know anything about these things… It was more of Mai’s thing to be interested in romance and fairy tales. She never had the time nor interest in this topic before…
Maybe internet will have some advice? She wondered as she slid out her smartphone from her pocket.
The first thing that popped up when she searched romance was-
“Your lie in April? Your name?” She muttered confusedly but a little interested. “Anime?”
Well, someone did say that all stories are based on real life right? Maybe this could be useful? So without thinking much she bought a streaming service subscription and started the movie.
She didn’t sleep the rest of the night.
That day, Maki Zenin learned two things about herself. One, she like Megumi. And the other… that she enjoyed romance anime very much.

A/N: I wrote this because there wasn’t enough Maki development despite her being the love interest and it felt a little fun to add those little details to her character.

I full agree with your view. I have read and enjoyed both of them too, though I hadnt heard of the arknights one. I'm thinking of making this a harem but I'm not too sure about it. And while I will probably take some things from those two fics I'll try to make Ten Shadows into my own version. It is just so versatile of a technique that it's applications are limitless in a sense.

2025-07-07 10:48:01 +0000 UTClots of fan theorist seem to think that the natural progression of the 10 shadows technique is having the summons powers transfer to the wielder. honestly if it were me i’d create doppelgangers of my enemies even abuse the shadow clones aspect. i’d be copying terrorblade from dota except on steroids. remember that scene in dota dragons blood where terrorblade dies but kills his enemy by mortally stabbing them from their own shadow. honestly megumi could and should be doing cool stuff like that. theres that guy in black clover who had shadow powers. i think megumi could copy some of his more interesting gimmicks. or do a pride from full metal alchemist. have shadow tendrils that devour people and slice apart enemies. instead of shooting the lazers manually have the shadows do it through their eyes or tips.

2025-07-07 09:31:07 +0000 UTCyo fyi theres 2 megumi jjk fics that are the most notable to me “potential man on questionable questing” and that megumi fanfic where the actual megumi with some si memories was thrown into arknights in an au where he died when sukuna and gojo fought each other and this variant of gojo didn’t holdback. the author of that fanfic did some cool things like fusing the ten shadows with cool looking fusions,mourning tiger had flame powers and martial arts in it and it was amazingly well written shame i’m not too much into arknights and its a watts pad only fanfic :-( potential man was an amazing fic but i feel like the author could’ve done more with that megumis power set as i felt it was kinda lazy. the copying shinigami powers onto the summoner was one of the few cool things alongside that darkness devil transformation we saw for the final battle i will say the i enjoyed that fic because the author was unhinged as fk and its one of the few fics female mommy kenjaku was banged in alongside utahime and tsumiki so its already leagues better than most jjk fics just for the author doing that.
