Planning Ahead - What should we work on?
Added 2021-11-16 09:33:14 +0000 UTCWith the Smuggler’s Cove project moving ahead and planned to complete in January, it’s a good time to think a few steps ahead and decide what to work on next year.
One of our core staff is also stepping away from Poly Haven for a few months to work on an exciting project, which gives us an opportunity (and budget) to pivot and try something new if we want to, potentially hiring some short-term contractors for something specific.
We have some ideas of our own of course, but I’d like to ask you guys what you think we should do :)
The budget can cover a full-time contractor for 3-4 months, or perhaps multiple part time contractors.
The goal is, as always, to create high quality assets for polyhaven.com, whether it be HDRIs, textures, or 3D models - and what specifically is needed - is still up in the air.
It won’t be another big theme project like the Smuggler’s Cove - it’s too soon for that - but instead a collection (or two) of assets that we all agree are useful and in demand.
What do you think would be the best use of our time & funds?
Make a suggestion (or 10) here.
Remember, we’re looking to find out big-picture what kinds of assets we should make. Specific single-item suggestions aren’t that useful (we’ll have a better system for these suggestions in future), think more about what category or type of assets would be nice.
Next week I’ll gather all the suggestions and make a poll for you to vote on.
