Sangromancy is the school of Nature magic reserved for the manipulation of mortal blood and bile. It has been reviled for centuries with a level of fear rivaled only by its sibling school of Necromancy, yet it has not been abused nearly as heinously throughout the ages. The reason for mortal fear of Sangromancy is primal and borderline phobic: Fire may burn, and water may drown, but blood is life to mortals, and no other magic is truly capable of stealing that life as effortlessly and horrifically as blood magic. As such, folktales abound of rogue blood mages and -in recent history- vampires using their magic to rupture mortal veins, pull blood out from beneath the skin, and leave their victims cold and dry. Worth noting is that actual recorded instances of such acts being committed are near-nonexistent, but this fact has done little to quiet mortal imaginations.
The elemental responsible for the health and abundance of mortal blood is Duke Thadron, a mute cipher of an elemental who is rarely seen by both mortals and other elementals alike. Thadron is one of the longer lived elemental Generals, having existed since before recorded history, with some elementals hinting that it is at least as old as the first mortals in Imperium. Because so little is understood of Thadron's motivations and character, mortals speak its name only in whispers, for fear that it might descend silently from above and take back that precious fluid which it bestowed upon them in the first place. Intriguingly, just as with the blood magic it represents, Thadron's recorded appearances across time have been few, and none have been accompanied by violence or destruction. Its most recent appearance, in the year 906 RH, was above the doomed village of Blackhollow, and though none were harmed during this appearance, those still living who were there at the time are able to vividly recall the sky vanishing beneath a pulsating cloud of red, until the only remaining hint of spatial distance was found in the eyes of Thadron and its encircling bloodmoths.
