I went to elementary middle and high school with Frank's son.

Idk if you guys ever felt this way, but this seemed like the most Scorsese-y movie that Spielberg ever did, and, the Leo-ness of it continually makes me think it's a Scorsese movie, but the John Williams score reminds me it's Spielberg.

LOVED this, so fun hearing you guys talk about one of my all time favorites. Kudos on solving the common denominator of all Leo's characters, great insight! As for Leo's age being an issue for you guys, I always saw Frank Jr as someone with that curse/blessing of looking way older than he actually is. We all knew that one kid who seemed way older than he was, which facilitated scheming, like passing as 21 with a fake ID and so on. So that disconnect of him suddenly having these childlike moments is very purposeful imo. He couldn't actually look 16 or none of it would work. To me, this is a story of a runaway kid who throws himself way too deep in this lifestyle and never quite loses or rethinks his original motivation. Deep inside, he's just a scared kid who never quite grew up, despite looking like he did.
