Criticism based on what you wanted to see isn't very helpful or interesting. It's much more interesting to analyze what is actually on the screen. Case in point, the alternate lokis seem like underdeveloped new last minute characters if you only focus on what you expect. However, they aren't new characters. They are all variants of loki. They're the same character with tiny variations. Making this into ready player one would just make it another cookie cutter boring Hollywood cliche. Instead we get something really experimental or at least just comedic. You miss that if you don't focus on appreciating what you have.

Ok one more thing: my viewing experience of Loki as a character is a lot like Wreck it Ralph (stay with me). He’s been a side character for years, but now he’s the protagonist, and now that he is, he has the ability to go on a narrative arc. On a meta level, the reason Loki hasn’t changed before is because he’s not the protagonist. Weirdly, all 3 MCU D+ shows have all addressed the idea of identity. All the protagonists struggle with the antagonists telling them “who they are”. It’s more present in Loki, and Falcon and the Winter Soldier, but it’s also a bit in WandaVision. Falcon deals with the question, “what does it mean to be ‘Captain America’ “, and Loki deals with the question “what does it mean to be me, when everyone thinks I’m this way, but I don’t think I’m like that”. Honestly, these questions fascinate me

Personally love this series, but I agree, it feels somewhat rushed. That’d said, all the comic stuff that’s being implied and is referenced is so cool. Like, Frog Thor (Throg) was amazing. Classic Loki’s arc was amazing to me, because to me it’s like a piece of THE Loki from deep within. Anyways, can’t wait for the finale
