Like the man said, if this happened here in the states this likely would have been a large disability discrimination lawsuit, and rightfully so. It feels very strange to me that some feel as though they deserve to have every preference or demand met in a shared space (i.e., that is not to say that creepy people don't exist or that they aren't common), its like going to a bar as a recovering alcoholic and expecting others not to partake to accommodate your preferences. The entitlement is bizarre and seemingly hurtful to those who have no intention of disregarding those expectations (the man seemed genuinely remorseful that he gave the appearance of violating her boundaries) but don't meet them to the degree desired. Especially in reference to gyms, if you are not comfortable being looked at there are many ways to get plenty of exercise in solitude rather than shared spaces. Go to a smaller or different gym, do calisthenics at home, do cardio in a public park, the opportunity for folks to accommodate themselves always exists, they would rather demand the attention of others to appease them. Shame on that woman for not having the decency to apologize for the misunderstanding and go about her goddamn business.
2023-07-07 20:33:39 +0000 UTCI can’t help but wonder how much of this stems from people wanting to have a certain image to uphold as opposed to being honest. Like the image of being honest is being valued more than actually being honest.
