side comic options for ~august

familial stranger technically isn't done, but it's coming along, and i've been itching to work on something besides that and fresh meat. i figure maybe with the breaks, maybe THIS time i'll be able to build up a buffer!!! (familial stranger actually did have a sketch buffer at the beginning, but it eventually dwindled.)
i ended up tweaking and nitpicking the color palettes for these quite a bit, but... there were improvements.

anyway. both of these comic options feature felix. i figured for felix, i would provide one option that focused on internal interactions, and one that focused on external instead. both of them are about avoidance coping, thematically.

the first comic is the option largely featuring felix's inner world affairs; it would primarily feature, felix, saga, and deadname, although the bulk is going to be with felix and deadname.
this one is the less "heavy" topics of the two, summarily about felix getting a call from their mother for the first time in years stating that their father is very sick in the hospital suddenly. felix panics and asks alters for advice on what to do. it looks at avoidance in the form of mental escapism and dissociation.
the color palette and tone is supposed to be sort of dream-like.

the second comic option features felix and izzi. because izzi is in the mix, it's a much more direct address of a more serious topic; the plot is basically these 2 getting off of work, and following up on plans they'd made to hang out a while ago, while izzi sounds off about some things that hit a little closer to home than felix was expecting during the drive to their destination.
this one is looking at avoidance in a much more literal way, and rolling over if it's even the right choice to always jump into a bad situation that's happening. of the 2, however, this option is the one with a substantially "happier" ending, for lack of a better way to put it.
for the palette, i was trying to mix a tense red with green for something complementary and "stop and go." much more contrast and much less visually hazy.

voting is here.
(i decided to make this post public, because it reveals very little about the comic, but the poll itself will be a patron thing.)

yes! i really hate christmas colors, honestly (& not just because i'm jewish, they're just... gross to me). the izzi option was almost a much more monotonous color scheme: https://i.gyazo.com/31eb5a30e18d7a69d32111834181271c.png and despite how i felt like it was acceptable and looked sort of like a neat retro game, i was really not enjoying the drastic jump between the white and second-lightest color in the palette, and i just wasn't in LOVE with it, so i messed with it a bit. i was surprised how well a yellow-orange midtone pulled the strong red and greens together into something cohesive. now it reminds me of "fallout 3 colors" instead of "christmas colors" tho

i'm excited to see a red and green color scheme that doesn't at all read as "christmas", especially when it includes my favorite shades of red and green. the dappled lighting in the first option is also very cool...
