character design tutorial

about a year ago i tried to do a character design tutorial. i found it so frustrating for some reason i couldn't pin that i ended up not finishing it!

this one i'm a lot happier with... it feels like i'm saying something that isn't explaining how to design characters LIKE I DO. for the curious, i'll post what i had of the old tutorial here (still a bunch of cool expressions, but even the designs i was trying to do were way out of my comfort zone and unenjoyable)

anyway, character designing is one of my longest standing passions in art and i'm thought and learned a lot about it, even though it mainly focuses on CARTOON design. i'll probably make OTHER tutorials related to character designing in the future (even here now that i've looked at it again i tried to make about ideating rather than straight up designing, which is interesting) but this is what i would consider the most important knowledge about character design from somebody like me.
